Hi

Is there a diganostic cable available that will enable you to plug into a laptop and read codes, capture live data etc.?

I have a 1995 Celica GT convertible. 2.0 auto, Jap import. 3S-GE engine I think...

Have seen this on Ebay but have no idea if it will fit, and if it does what do I couple it to ? ( I have a Bluetooth OBDII dongle for my phone I used to use on a much newer Subaru Legacy)

Yes and no. Yes that will plug into your port, but no it won't allow your OBD2 setup to read codes or data since a 1995 doesn't have OBD2 communications protocols.

There will be a plug in the engine bay with the 3S-GE labeled "DIAGNOSTIC." Your 5S should have the same plug. You can scan codes by jumping two ports in this box. As far as capturing live data, it should be the same as trying to scan this information from an OBDI equipped car.

im pretty sure I've seen an ODB1 to ODB2 adapter that you can plug onto that usb to ODB2 cable, then you need the software to run it. I've looked into getting it but im not sure all the details yet.
they have the Toyota TIS software on the bittorent sites. not yet sure if we can get it to work for ODB1 or not.

It should still blink the same codes at least right and reading the voltages at the terminals will still tell you rough fuel trims and oxygen sensor output, correct?
