last night on the way home she staggered for a sec and then the CEL came on. When I got home I checked and it was a 22, Coolant Temp Sensor open/short. but it was cold as sheet and figured I'd mess with it later.
But this morning it wouldn't start at all so I checked the CTS and sure enough the connector was busted, one wire hanging by a copper strand and the other completely disconnected. And busted off right where the wire enters the connector so I wasn't able to reconnect. So I took my pliers and an Exacto blade and busted the top of the plastic away so I could get to some little bits of wire left on the end of the terminals. Then I used some alligator clips to attach the wires and that actually worked well enough for it to start and drive it all the way up to the salvage yard and snag a new connector from a Camry. ghetto done right. -------------------- Bust a Deal; Face the Wheel.

I got a call specifically for me at my work whilst I was working (odd, as it's usually never person specific), only to be told that my car was hit by a car. I park behind my work in a public monthly paid parking spot. Luckily, the person whom hit my car was a tenant of the building where I park, and he'll be paying for repairs without insurance.
Still, not fun when you can't take a call and you've been told your car has been hit. The damage: I'm not angry or upset. I actually respect that the guy found out where I worked and called in. I don't mind that I'm not going through insurance as I've been in the same situation before. Funny thing is that the opposite fender has a dent in the same spot, a dent which I've had since I bought my car, and I've placed a big band-aid sticker on it to remind me that I need to get it fixed when I have the resources. I guess my car is balanced out for the time being. I hope the repair cost won't be too much for the sake of the guy who hit me. |

Ah yes, I was also contemplating selling my GT-Four soon if I could get my hands on a 70's era Celica, but there doesn't seem to be any in my general area. They look so bad-ass, and I wouldn't mind the power downgrade.

Today I realized that I'm going to need to install one of the 2:1 ratio things in the steering for my 6th gen. Reason being is that the all-trac is 3 turns lock to lock and the 6th gen is 6 turns lock to lock

Kudos to his sense of morals. It doesn't look too bad from the picture, just a new fender in matching colour? Went to an insurance accredited shop today and was quoted $2k for dent repair, painting, and blending of paint. This was a base estimate for just the panel. Will cost more if the subframe or absorption bar is damaged under it. I called up the guy and told him about the pricing, and how iven been referred to another reputable shop for an estimate. He asked if i could take it to a shop of his choice for a third opinion, which i said i wouldnt mind , but I'd be checking up on the shop to ensure it has a good reputation. I also found out that the guy who hit me with his work truck is the same company that owns the parking lot that I (my work) pays for me to park at. I'll most likely be claiming it in insurance now. I may be wrong, but USDM quarter panels will not fit my JDM, no? |

nice, he didn't want to have a claim on the work truck. too freakn bad.
But do you mean Fender instead of quarter-panel? quarter-panel refers to the side area from behind the door to the back bumper. I've heard that you need a different nose to fit with the GT4 hood but I'm not sure if the fender is different or not. -------------------- Bust a Deal; Face the Wheel.

The USDM panels fit, but they don't have the JDM side marker. Just the crappy US running lights |

^Yep... For what the body shop would charge in labour converting a fender you're better off just having bought the one you really need.

So I'm thinking about getting poly mount inserts. My only issue is I'm worried how much vibration they add. Can someone with them enlighten me on them?

I have them on my engine mounts for a GT - 5sfe. For the first month or two they will add quite a bit of vibration, but they'll settle in over time. It's been over a couple years now, I think almost 3 1/2, and I don't even notice that they are there. richee3 has them, and said he hates them so much he stopped driving the car. No, those were the poly bushings for the suspension and there's more to it than him just hating it. |

Tr00f. It's more an issue with the car than the bushings, but the whole situation has me fed up and ready to shell out the cash for a pair of new control arms and be done with it. The poly motor mount inserts vibrated pretty hard at idle for the first few thousand miles but broke in and aren't bad now.
