I found two LT1 models and have sent messages, just waiting to hear back. One is a little over an hour away in state, the other is almost two hours away in Georgia. The one in Georgia is a black on black WS6 though.

wink.gif no need to be so sensitive sweety. I hope you find something you'll be happy with. I just don't know how people afford to put gasoline in those things everyday.

Every time I've gone car shopping I've wanted one, but I'd put it aside for whatever reason. Mostly the cramped engine bay and terrible interior... They're not that bad on fuel really, 17/27 to 19/28 using premium depending on the year. Not bad considering the level of performance you get, truth be told.

The LT1 still used the old firing order so it sounds more like a classic muscle car whereas the LS1 went to a new firing order and has a more modern sound. I just like the sound of classic muscle cars more, despite the fact it's not as efficient and causes more NVH. tongue.gif Same thing when Ford went from the OHV 5.0 to the OHC 4.6 and such.

Turns out the owner of the Trans Am in state is a teacher on Thanksgiving vacation, so it'll be next week before getting pictures and trying to setup a time to see it. There are a few Z28's for sale, and I know they're identical outside of cosmetics, but I just want the Trans Am more. I just feel like if I settled and bought a Camaro I'd end up regretting it. Must fulfill childhood dreams. tongue.gif

I thought about it. I could build a nice Celica with a V6 to my exact specifications, I even found a nice Solara to be a donor.

The Pontiac was always a higher quality than the Chevy, I'd hold out.

Yep. The interior was a little better, the Firebird actually had some soft-touch materials where as the Camaro was pretty much all plastic. That and the seats in the T/A actually aren't that bad with the power bolsters.

Plus you never see the Firebird, the Camaro is fairly rare too. Unlike a Mustang you can go to any parking lot in America and there's at least one...

Well, it'll be cheaper and easier to make the interior of a Trans Am nicer than it would be to make a Miata faster. tongue.gif I thought about buying another Miata, but I think it's time for a break from the slow and nimble cars. Plus it'll be nice to have a car where my shoulder isn't buried into the door panel.

you could get the TA body kit for a Camaro
http://ztafirebird.com/

but of course, then it's still a Camaro interior /shrug

It just isn't the same. kindasad.gif GM seriously needs to bring Pontiac back at least as a performance division, sort of like how Dodge made SRT its own brand. That way there can be real Firebirds, GTO's, and the like. It shouldn't really cost them anymore to do something like that, the new Pontiac line could be sold to any GM dealer that'd want to carry them.

again, I would have loved to see them make the Solstice as a quality car instead of a half-assed POS.
