We don't have public transportation where I live, unless you want to count the school bus. I drive each car before I buy it, but it's only a test drive and I'm focusing more on the mechanics of the car. The biggest issue with the Miata was that it was a convertible(Yeah, I know), I never dropped the top so I got all of the negatives with none of the positives. My problem is that I want a car that does it all, and sadly all of those are expensive. This is where genetic engineering and Chocobos come in as a plan B. My only question is, WHY WOULD YOU BUY A MIATA AND NOT WANT A CONVERTIBLE?! Hey I would like a mr2, but i dont want a mid engine car. That make sense right? -------------------- 2015 Subaru WRX. You sound as if you would enjoy a MR2. You already have to self entitled elitist attitude they all like to have as well. ![]() I know in the past I was pretty bad about being that way, but I'd like to think I've changed for the better. -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

A hardtop that I remove and drive the car around without. I had the s2000 before this and drove around with the top down every chance I got.
The miata handles extremely well, the only car I've owned or put a lot of time behind the wheel that is better is the s2000 and thats because it was 11 years newer and had twice the hp. For the money, the miata is the best you can buy. Stick to your fireturd or mr2 or mkiii or whatever your flavor of the week is. You saying that the miata doesn't handle well tells me what your knowledge and experience with cars is. -------------------- 2015 Subaru WRX. World Rally Blue/Black

I never said the Gayata didn't handle well, just that it didn't meet my ultra high expectations set forth by the circle jerkers at Miata.net So get your panties out of a wad.

The amount of chassis flex is also inexcusable for the year it was made. I was comparing it to the Celica, and it fell short. Under-steer tendencies of FWD aside, which can be worked around anyway if you know how to drive, the Celica was better than the Miata all around. Therefore the disappointment. It's not like I was comparing it to an Elise, S2000, etc... No reason to get so sensitive.

you realize that you said that the celica handles better than a miata? what proof besides your "expert" opinion do you have?
are their celica spec races all over the world? is the celica known for being the most popular car for autoX? did they sell so well that they continue to make them? let me know because im dying for those answers. My celica was great, it really was. back when i was 17 when i didn't know any better how often do you go out and actually race your car? I don't mean revving and peeling out whatever backwater town you live in. i mean on track racing. -------------------- 2015 Subaru WRX. World Rally Blue/Black

i just think that you are not committed to a car, and you quit on it very quick. Impulsive desicions can be good. when you think too much, makes you miss, an opportunity of not owning a car. I cannot beleive there is not a car in this world, that cannot satisfy you.
can you not just get a subaru, they are good and reliable. I never thought that the experience of owning one would change me. there are several legacies for sale at good price. Not a wrx, those are beaten to death. -------------------- Learned a lot in 10 years... I hardly log in anymore, last login Today Sept 6 2019, and I was forced just to clarify a post. LOL

njccmd2002 those are TOO expensive for his price range, plus those are boring and don't handle anywhere near what the celica does.

You do realize left foot braking allows the forward transfer of weight in a FWD car to minimized and negates the negative handling characteristics?
The Celica still holds a longer production range if you want to go into that, 36 years versus 25. It was also used competitively in the professional world of racing, I can't recall any Miatas... I also can't help but find it funny you're so insecure over my statements you have to lash out against me. Besides, after seeing what you've done with your Miata I guess you're not welcome with the rest of the circle jerkers at Miata.net but have been banished to Club Roadster. ![]() This post has been edited by Box: Jan 8, 2015 - 9:58 PM -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

you didn't answer my questions.
there is an entire race series dedicated to the miata and is used across the nation is Auto-X. the celica may have sold from an eariler year, but died because no one was buying them because they were over-priced and under powered. miata on the other hand? 1 million and continuing to grow that number. i am impressed that you know your left from right. and i am very happy you have to completely upset the balance of the car to get it to do what you want. im not insecure over your statements, i am sick and tired of your constant complaining and moaning about not finding a car you like. find something, stick with it and for gods sake, if its not a celica, quit running your post count up on 6gc. yeah miata.net is a bunch of douches who are to good for the world. congratulations on being able to read. club roadster is full of bro's who want to drift and stance, congratulations are in order to jump the bandwagon and being above them and being better. yet here we are on the biggest celica cirlce-jerk site on the web, and my point on that last one is proven by YOU who thinks the celica is the standard for handling.. peace out homie. i hope you end up wrecking your next car as well -------------------- 2015 Subaru WRX. My problem is that I think with my wallet, once I reach a certain point with a car I don't spend any more except for on maintenance. I love cars, but I realize at the end of the day they're just an appliance to anyone I'm going to sell it to. That and I have this unrealistic expectation of every car to do everything I want out of the box. I know, something has to give either way. I had thought about getting a 2.5 RS Impreza, but I could never find one for whatever reason. -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

If you knew anything it's done to maintain balance, just talk with the CR-X drivers some day. My thread, get over it. I never said it was the standard, just that it was better than my Miata for me. Tigawoods seems to be doing pretty damn well with his Celica too, so I guess I'm not entirely insane. Plus to be fair the Celica had aftermarket suspension while the Miata was still stock. Just like I wrecked your mom, oooohhhhh. Plus if you read my personal biography it wasn't my fault and insurance gave me a big fat check. Plus you want to hear something funny? I turned the Miata into a track car. ![]() Also I don't consider spec Miata as professional, I mean something like WRC and GT500 etc... You know homologation models and all that good stuff. -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

Anyways....
I got my harness back from Tweak'd and finally got it running through the Supra again only to find out that my battery is dead.... :\ Definitely a beautiful harness, but sad to see that it's designed to be tucked under the intake manifold runners. Other than that, waiting for my rear hatch struts come in from Canadiatown. They're supposed to be here by tomorrow, so I am keeping my fingers crossed so that I can go ahead and retire my vice grips. -------------------- -Alex {](O_o)[}

Box plz buy something and just be happy. That's impossible. Of course the psychologist in me would say something about how my desire for things I have direct control over to be perfect is a reflection of my inability to cope with the things I don't have control over not turning out as I had desired. Or maybe how I seek happiness in material objects and once I've acquired them I'm happy temporarily only to become an empty shell again. That's just nonsense though and I'd leave immediately after throwing water into my face. The fact of the matter is until I can afford a $50,000+ car that has everything I want in a car I'll never be satisfied with what I have regardless of how great it may or may not be and how loved or loathed it is. So I might as well just accept it and move on, then I'll spare everyone the agony of my existence. I'll get whatever and deal with it, after all cars are just tools anyway... -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed
