Hello: All. I got the front and rear splitters for my ST and wondering which is the best way to glue them to the body. The rear ones are OEM and it took a lot of effort to clean out the factory tape. Previously I used the 3M for my side skirt but it did not last more that a few weeks. Any other ideas?

Appreciate the help.

Thanks in advance

I did not think about it. I will call the dealer tomorrow and ask him. I know a guy there.

I think I used this for my car http://www.homedepot.com/p/Scotch-1-in-x-1...14-DC/203405976 I know I got it from home depot. It's been on for over a year and I haven't had any trouble with it.

Go to your local glass shop and ask for glaziers tape. It comes in a variety of widths.

Make sure everything is super clean before you stick it together. Also, line everything up and then peel the protective backing off. You only get one shot at it. Once that stuff is stuck it won't come unstuck without ruining it.

Thanks guys. I will check the local glass shops and Home Depot as well. I need to redo my sides as well before I get the car painted.

I sent an email to my buddy at local Toyota dealer and he sent me a part number for 3M tape 06384 which the dealership uses to attach spoilers, side dam etc. I could not find the specs on this such as holding strength in lbs per inch.

I use this as well and have no problems for years.

A good alternative to double sided tape is the Sikaflex. You can buy it online.

the 3m or "scotch" brand is just fine, dont spend the extra money to say you bought it from the dealer, like someone else posted, its just 3m brand.
the key is to make sure the surfces your applying the tape to is clean, and preferably almost warm to the touch.
when your peeling the tape off the roll, make sure your hands are super clean, the oils from your skin will actually affect the grip of the tape down the road.

Tape is great but if it's possible always have one or two mechanical fasteners as well just in case.
