If the 4Runner can't make it up Pike's Peak it'll have brought shame upon its family and immediately impale itself with the nearest guardrail.

Mmm, five-window-down-wheeling. Congratulations. thumbsup.gif

You know my strong love of fun cars and general dislike of trucks, but I actually really like this thing. It conquered snow without breaking a sweat, and I can't help but opening the rear window and moonroof every chance I get. The old ball and chain became the permanent ball and chain yesterday so we won't be opening all the windows much on this trip but I'll see if I can't do it at least once through the mountains.

Roads? Where we're going, we don't need roads. I'm going up the side of Pikes Peak. Not because I want to, but because this thing has the single worst navigation unit in the universe and that's just where it'll take me.

Bought a rear disc brake conversion for the subaru. It'll be awhile before I get them on but it's going to be nice to ditch drums. I hate drum brakes.

Even worse if they're in the front too.

Oh yeah I think I finally got the damn TH350 to stop leaking, which if you Google "TH350 leak" is a miracle in of itself. Said screw it and bought two quarts of Type F to top it off and also to give the fluid a pink tinge. Really I just didn't feel like going all the way to the Tractor Supply store for the third time for what should only be a quart or two needed anyway, or explaining to people why the transmission fluid is invisible...

Everyone says to sell it and get a fourth gen. The only problem there is the scarcity of 6-speed cars is ridiculous, and especially around here it seems. The last thing I want to do is to sell it and then not find a 6-speed fourth gen car, as automatics are absolutely out of the equation and I don't care how nice and/or inexpensive it is. Not happening, EVER. I'd even settle for a later third gen TBI 5-speed provided it was the hardtop and in nice shape. I just want V8 burble and to shift my own gears, not looking to impress anyone or win races. I really wish I could find a 6-speed C4 Vette in my range, but it seems they're all trailer queens asking almost as much for a decent C5...

Oh god, that sounds horrible. Although the 426 sounds nice. Man I love my cars but I've been wanting some v8ness lately. Have you tried looking on forums for a f body? Maybe there's someone near you with one? I'd say try to find what you want since in the end you'll be happier.

I thought all the leaks were gone... Of course I let it get up to temp and looked and and still no leaks, so I start to top it off and get to the proper level. Put it in gear and drive around some with no problems, trans starts slipping again so I turn back around and park it only to look and fluid is gushing from the damn thing. That's ok when I turned it off it dieseled on me, so I guess I can only drive it during the Fall and Winter anyway unless I want to find race fuel from somewhere...

Should just silicone the ****ing pan to it, fill it back up and sell the ****er. If I wanted to waste $60 I could think of a lot more fun ways than to take and dump trans fluid onto the ground.

I've been on and off looking on Craig's List and eBay and there's nada, which just reinforces my fears. I'm getting to the point I don't care anymore though. Sell the Miata and Firebird and then just use my brother's Durango since in the last year and a half it's only just now done 750 miles with me using it here lately. No cars no problems.

Yeah but that's no fun. Could always get a two door Tahoe and go off roading.

The T5 won't hold up to the motor, so that leaves the T-10 with a direct clutch my knee can't handle or a T56 that costs $1,500 or more. The manual conversion would drop the temps because everything is ok until the auto engages and starts sending hot fluid through the radiator, but dieseling at turn off is a sign of knocking it just isn't bad enough to be audible or perceived while running.

It's the 5.9 4x4, but it's just used for the occasional hauling stuff.

Side note, if you want a V8 with an automatic for the love of all that is holy get a SC400.

Well any of the domestics with an auto have issues unless you buy something relatively new, and even then I'm unsure. Ford's AOD and GM's 4L60E constantly have to be rebuilt or replaced. Then GM's 700R4 is even worse than the 4L60 and for the love of god stay away from the TH200.

I've decided if I get another car it'll be a LT1/ZF C4 Corvette. I'm done with compromising and it's the best car I can buy at the moment.

V8 manual that handles well without needing more spent on suspension than what you did for the car.

The 4th gen F-body is a pain to work on as well so that's really moot. SN95 Mustangs aren't an option thanks to my crippled body and I don't have the money for a C5 Vette, GTO, or S197 Mustang GT. So that leaves the C4 Vette or a 3rd or 4th gen F-body. I just don't have the proper space and tools for a manual conversion for a SC400, or the Firebird for that matter. Thanks to my ****ed up genetics I get two hours of unrestful sleep a night if I'm lucky and I'm constantly in pain with no help from medications. To be honest I'm ****ing useless these days and doing the most basic of physical tasks kills me, the only reason the transmission stuff was done was because my brother was nice enough to do it for me since I couldn't. Top it off my compromise of getting the Firebird since it was an automatic but a car I liked is going down the drain just like everything else in my life. So goddamn yes I'm ****ing pissed off and just tired of it all. I want to drive a manual car while I still can as it's already proven I'm just going to continue to have my quality of life degraded.

I'm sorry for the rant, I'm just beyond it right now. It's like every time I turn around Murphy is there waiting to kick me down. I know others have it worse with terminal illnesses, **** I had a friend die of cancer a few years ago... It's just hard to look at things positively when there's so many more people with little to nothing wrong with them. Everytime I hear someone complain about their severe pain but two Advil took care of it I want to show them what real ****ing pain is. How about being loaded up with muscle relaxers, pain killers, and fibro specific medicine only to still hurt like hell? My mom is completely disabled because of it and not even the highest doses of what's legally available takes the edge off, I know what I have to look forward to and it god damn sucks. Sure it may not kill me but I wish it would at times...
