Why are you looking for an st and not a gt? Just curious I've heard that in a manual transmission an ST can get 40+mpg, plus it gives me all the familiarity and reliability of my current GT. -------------------- Brand new 6gc owner! (sort of 2011)

I sure would like to hear about this since I know mine definitely doesn't get 40 MPG. Probably 35 at best. The ST platform is also the lightest of the batch which is a plus....except for snow. |

Mixed is more like 29-30mpg and heavy city can bring it down to 26-27mpg. -------------------- taking too long to mod since '09

You're saying that there is no difference? If you want mega mpg get a Prius lol. I've driven them before and aside from the awesome stereo system it is literally an automotive death sentence. Nothing about that car is what I like about cars, except the mpg & stereo. -------------------- Brand new 6gc owner! (sort of 2011)

I think this thread should be taken somewhere other than the for sale thread..

Most I've ever seen in mine was 34mpg in pure highway driving. Mixed is more like 29-30mpg and heavy city can bring it down to 26-27mpg. I got 46.5 mpg at my best. I've never been able to get it again, but I've gotten 45 mpg afterward. To get this I stayed at a constant 2600 rpm waaay over in the slow lane. There was also this stretch of highway with no stop lights, but a 55 mph speed limit - that's where I really milked the mpg. With everyday highway driving (and some road), not trying to save any gas, I get around 35 mpg. My roof rack brought my highway mpg down a few notches |

I got 36-40 out of mine consistently, but it was lowered with alloy 14's and I drove like an old man. If I were to buy another Celica I'd go for the GT just for the sake I'd have intentions of 1MZ swapping it anyway. Another car to look out for if economy is your main concern would be the last few years of the Paseo. Ehh, other not Honda options would be the Mazda MX-3 and Nissan NX.

You should get one of the 2000-2006 Honda Insights, you can get 60+ mpg with the 5-speed and it's just as quick as the Celica ST. That and it has that sporty futuristic vibe going for it. Another option might be the 7th gen GT as it got the same as the 6th gen ST, but with 140 hp.

I've been looking for a clean 7th gen, but the problem is that people want RSX prices for a ride that was used hard. Plus a 6th gen is just so easy to maintain. But I've been looking for sure. -------------------- Brand new 6gc owner! (sort of 2011)
