Those were the ones I was looking into actually, I had put a set of the Denso TT Platinum plugs into the Celica and it responded really well to them. I suppose Denso TT Iridium plugs and JEGS 8mm wires it is.

Sounds like a plan! Just don't break your arm getting at them.

I don't look forward to it at all, but at least with those plugs it should be the only time I'll have to do them. Then again LT1's can make it well over 200K miles when treated properly, so at the very least there'll be enough time between plug changes to keep me from going insane.

I may have popped it on with an impact. Or rust locked it down. Either way, I can not get it loose here at home safely. If I could get it up in the air enough to swing the ratchet with a pipe on it I could probably get it loose but I can't do that at home. I'll just get it loose and either install at work or get it loose and then hand tighten it to go home and DIY at home. If I have the time at work I'll just do it at work. I may trim the edges of the mount inserts to slide in more easily beforehand though!

Yeah it's not worth risking hurting yourself when you can do it at work safely and finish back up at home or there at work.
Which another thing I need to do is change the water pump, thermostat, and do a coolant flush. It's not overheating and the pump isn't weeping, but it makes a slight grumbly sound so I rather nip it in the bud and not have to worry about it. I found a Gates brand on Amazon Prime for like $64 shipped but it didn't state if gaskets are included like it does on RockAuto for $62 plus shipping. I did a coolant test on it after I bought it and it's relatively fresh, a shame to dump all that new DeathCool though. Need to change the trans fluid and rear end oil as well just so I know there's new fluid and oil throughout and when it was done. Been contemplating between Pennzoil/GM SynchroMesh and the Amsoil synthetic variation, the rear end I'll just use the SuperTech synthetic GL-5 from Wally World. What's sad is how much there is to do to a car that really doesn't need much and that you're driving all the time. Being a car guy makes owning a car a lot of work. ![]() -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

May as well swap in a new optispark while you have the water pump off, you're around the right miles for it to begin failing.

May as well swap in a new optispark while you have the water pump off, you're around the right miles for it to begin failing. I was thinking about that myself, but I've found where the OBD-II Opti can make it to 200K with no problems and it has some 118K miles now. No signs of issues currently so with my luck I'm probably just better off leaving it alone. When I change the pump I'll cover the Opti in plastic bags so any coolant left over after draining the system won't get on it. That and honestly I think I trust the old GM unit over some of these cheaper repops, if/when it fails I'll probably use it as an excuse to do the LS1 coil conversion. What kills me are all the kids that remove perfectly functioning A/C to "free up" horsepower. ![]() AC got removed out of my 77 liftback...... now i have to source all the parts and put it back in.. ![]() Exactly what I'm talking about. The A/C was ripped out of my '79 Firebird and my brother's '70 LTD needs everything redone too. This post has been edited by Box: Jun 6, 2016 - 2:45 PM -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

ES front mount insert on lunch real quick. I now have a massaging front seat while waiting at lights. I'll give it a few weeks before I decide if I can live with it or not.

Me, that's who. I'm also the one that needs A/C in a convertible, but maybe that's just me. Or a lot of people since so many Miatas came with A/C.
