Some pretty nifty stuff there. I forgot the MR2 used an eagle for its emblem, now I have to get one to be a roosting mate with the Firebird.

I didn't know faulty IACV's were contagious. Neither did I but apparently they are. Oh well both have new ones now. Hopefully that'll be it for awhile..... -------------------- |

E-code H4 headlamps and wiring adapters arrived today, so of course that took longer than it should but even in daylight could tell the difference. Once it get dark out I'll adjust them and get some pictures for the project thread.

Helped my brother put on the Brembo brake kit for his Genesis off a track model, funny how much bigger the Brembo calipers are along with the rotors being about an inch bigger in diameter too.

Sounds about like the Mazda6 front brake swap I did on my 626, 30% larger front brakes are great, the car FINALLY stops like a Japanese car should. Before that it stopped like a Buick Le-Sabre.

I know I can use the Brembo calipers off a CTS-V with rotors off a C6 Z06 but that requires going to an 18"+ rim and honestly 17" is big enough. I guess '98-02 brakes it will be.

Wiped down the Celica and Mazda and put a fresh coat of M26 wax on the horizontal surfaces of the Mazda, forgot to wax the front windows though, supposed to rain tomorrow off and on and I want that water to jump off the car! I like M26, it goes on easy, it hazes fast, it comes off easy, it's silky smooth, and bird ****/bugs just slide right off.

Meguiar's is some good stuff, definitely my favourite off the shelf big brand of car care products. Was going to finish tinting tail lights but yet again 15% chance of rain foiled things, at least this time it started before I did and not 90% of the way through...

Mequiars praise aside, I've got a tin of Collinite 476 coming Friday. Supposed to provide some SUPER long protection but supposed to be an absolute BEAR to work with. I'll try a little area on the Mazda and see how it goes on like the trunk or something, I'm not doing the whole car since I need some rust repaired before winter, no sense putting it all on for them to strip it partly off! Depending how hard or easy I find it to work with I may get some 915 for the Celica since I hear it's like sex for black cars, and that CarPro Essence really popped the gloss up a few levels on the car, it looks wet all the time now. After the Mazda rust repair I want to take the Celica up to a good PDR place to get the sides straightened, there's a bunch of little door dings that piss me off because it's so damn shiny EVERY one shows like a sore thumb. I've seen how good a black Celica can look....

Speaking of long lasting protection and CarPro I saw where they have some kind of quartz coating? Said it lasts for like two years or so, which I'd hope so for how much it was. I know what you mean with the dings and black, I have a few small spots on the passenger quarter that became more noticeable when I did the spray wax so I hate to know what the Essence will do. The pizza delivery guy the other day was in a silver 7th gen Celica, while I like the 6th gen more they're still a nice looking car.

The 7th gen only looks good in dark colors due to it's lines, white, silver, and yellow look the worst, blue, red, black, etc look the best.

Subarus rust has gotten worse.
![]() ![]() ![]() Sanding and por15? Would that be a cheap fix till I can afford a proper one. -------------------- |

Ewwww. That would be one option I guess, and hopefully it's not completely rotten yet. Probably the thing to do is take a flat blade screwdriver and then a wire brush to it in order to remove the bulk of the rust. The way to fix it properly would be welding in new metal after cutting all the rust out, but how feasible that is for you I don't know. The other option is once the rust is removed, treated, and sealed if it's still solid enough you can do some Bondo and touch up painting to cover it until you have the money to go all out. If there are holes technically you could patch with fiberglass from the backside and then do your Bondo. It's really a finicky situation having to take care of rust and not being able to do so the right way the first time around, but if left alone it'll just keep getting worse. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
The 7th gen only looks good in dark colors due to it's lines, white, silver, and yellow look the worst, blue, red, black, etc look the best. There was a dark blue I really liked on them. The silver one looked ok, but it was later in the afternoon as well. -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

Time to trade for something not rusted. Once rusted through the car looses more value like a spiral down I don't care at all about values or what I could sell it for. I love the car and want to keep it for a long period of time. I've got plenty of plans for it. I'll fix the rust cheaply as I can to hold me over till I can afford to do it properly. Plus even if I did sell it there's not much in the price range that tickles my fancy besides another outback sport. -------------------- |
