Hi folks

I think I love and hate my Celica sometimes. To cut a long story short I need an Auto box because mine is pretty much shot. I also have a failed driveshaft. My car is the 3s-GE convertible from 1995, an imported JDM model.

Essentially I can get a low mileage 1999 3s-FE Auto box AND driveshafts from a very helpful Celica enthusiast. Mine has the A-140E gearbox, axle is shown as 05A if that's relevant. Will the 3s-FE box fit on my car? One would think so but I need to know for sure.

The same goes for the driveshafts. These are hard to get and I can can have them as well - but are they the same? Again I would think so, but expert advice is needed! I need to get moving on this so as not to mess the guy around.

Appreciating your help
Dave

A140e auto tranny uses same driveshafts as S-series manual gearboxes that came with 5S engines.

So long as you stay withing either of these gearbox families you'll be ok.

E15x transaxles (3SGTE) use very different driveshafts.

Not sure about the 1.8L AT200 (Celica ST) engines, but probably different as well.

On the VIN plate (on my car) it says Trans/Axle A140E - 05A. On the donor car it says A140E - 02A. Does this mean the box is compatible and the driveshafts are different?
