I have a freshly rebuilt Celica ST,torn down to the engine bay, crankshaft, and synchros. It ran fine when parked to tear down, mostly (engine was just old and tired). However, I rebuilt the engine (that part turned out perfect) and tore the transmission apart completely to manually clean, inspect, and paint it as well. It now no longer goes into reverse. Every other gear seems fine, I can drive it normally if I want, reverse aside. I can shift it into the slot where reverse should be, and I feel it click from the detents, but nothing as far as go. I can put it in the position for reverse while the engine is running, without the clutch. Anyone have any suggestions for what I may have done wrong, please? Thanks for any advice you can offer!

Ahh, okay. I was worried it was something else, like my car getting a bit older and more mature, and now it doesn't really want to back that ass up anymore or something like the young cars do. Glad we cleared that up smile.gif

Here you go: http://transmissiong52013.blogspot.com/201...xle-system.html Go about half way down for the C56. If I had to take a guess your reverse shift fork isn't engaging.
