how cold is it there?
during the winter time I've had it happen a few times (usually after washing my car or something) where the doors would freeze and not open. first you might want to try some door lock deicer or something like that and grease everything up too. -------------------- ![]() *1997 Celica ST - 3SGE Greytop BEAMS *1977 Celica RA29 - Classic Cruiser *2005 Matrix AWD - dedded but still hanging around like a ghost 2019 Rav4 XLE Premium - Sports mode is fun. |

I've had this happen in colder weather too mainly cause I never really use the passenger door. Usually if you let the interior heat up, it'll warm up the lock actuator enough to allow it to move. The problem is that moisture builds up in the actuator and freezes the unit enough that it won't fully return the latch or even unlock. It's a pain to deal with but applying a little heat to it will fix it for you, I used a heat gun on low setting. Like cheela suggested, put a little extra grease on stuff and that should help reduce the chance of it happening.

I had that issue once.....in Texas.....during the summer. So it wasnt frozen. So I can say that sometimes the door lick actuator does fail sometimes. There is a tab that can unlock it, but due to its location its a pain to access (given the door is closed). My only option was either destroy door card to access the guts or cut open the door. Since I had a spare door laying around I had some fun. I have a video around somewhere of how it works after I cut it open.

I had this happen once as well, I found spraying some Liquid Wrench lubricating oil into the lock and working the key back and forth freed it up and didn't have any problems thereon forward.
