Not car related but have started to pack up things we do not need day to day in preparation for moving next month.
Will be the third time in a year we have moved lol...

Also starting the tedious process of getting power/gas/phone/internet/bills changed to the new address... Wonder how many of these are still going to end up not being moved in time...

The times moved is too damn high!

I'll say at least 40% won't be moved in time, but that's ok because 60% is still passing.

Not today but the other today I ordered car parts for the first time in forever. Ordered some copper ground straps that might be the fix to the Porsche's starting issue.

I like to get welding cable off Amazon to make any automotive electrical cables, that and the matching gauge copper ring connectors. I've noticed it's a lot cheaper doing it that way than buying pre-made stuff.

Think will list the Firebird on feeBay this weekend. Good time to sell it, being summer and what not.

Last time we moved out (went back to my misses parents house for 2 weeks than moved back into the unit due to circumstances changing), the power and gas was not disconnected on the day it was meant to be lol...

My Whiteline Sway Bar end links arrived today too, will get some photos soon and post them to my progress thread smile.gif

Double post but idaf wink.gif
What to do when you have to stay up all night looking after the kids: Spend entire time searching for rare/upgrade parts for the car. Hopefully I have found some wiper blades that will fit the caldina properly, some new fan style washer jets and managed to find a seller with a Stock Steering wheel with headunit controls option. Time to try and get this working with my pioneer unit!

A PAC SWIC should get the controls working
Silblade wiper blades are pretty good, I bet there's someone in Aus that makes or distributes them.

Really wish Toyota would come out with a hot hatch competitor to Fiesta or Focus ST. I would love to buy one in a couple years once or once my Outback sport kicks it.

Maybe if this new Supra thingy does well they'll bring back the Celica, but even then I don't think I'll hold my breath. I think if you wanted a hot hatch type vehicle and wanted to stay away from Euros and domestics then your best bet would be a Hyundai Veloster Turbo R-Spec or the new Civic Type R. Or you could find you a '14-16 tC and supercharge it.

Finished up the eBay listing description. I know inherently selling it is a bad idea, but I'll never be happy with the solid axle. I mean it's ok, but I can't drive it the way I want to comfortably. I don't dare toss it around like I did the Celica, or just going down a bumpy back road I won't go as fast as I would were it an IRS car. I mean I suppose I could, but the rear gets too twitchy for my liking to want to push it any further. All that said if I can't sell it for around what I have in it I won't sell it, I still like the Firebird but I just think I'd like a Z32 more. The Celica continues to leave me disappointed with other cars' handling, maybe the Z32 will break that.

Type R is too juvenile for my tastes. I'm not 12 anymore.... and the veloster is meh. Tc is meh too plus it's a two door. Maybe I'll just say it f**ck it and buy a 4Runner....

I think you'd enjoy a 6spd 7G GTS once you get past the kind of sharp lines on the exterior they're nice cars, no V8 torque but you'd manage.

Ye the Type R is a little over the top... You could get a regular Civic hatchback and it has like 174 hp, I imagine it wouldn't be hard to get it to Si 210 hp or so since it's the same engine. The Mazda3 2.5 would be pretty peppy with 184 hp and no turbo lag.

I like the 7th gen, had actually thought about getting a 6-speed GT-S. That or the Acura RSX Type-S. Thing is though I love torque since it lets me drive like an old man and still get up to speed decently quick, I don't like having to rev it out just so I can get to the speed limit in a timely manner. Not that I don't like revving out an engine, I just don't like being forced to. That's why I think the Z32 would work out since it still makes a decent amount of torque and fairly low down in the power band. Found this dyno chart of a VG30DE at the crank:

Nice and flat torque curve, very similar to the LT-1 actually just about 100 ft lbs less across the board.

If he's gonna C5, he needs to Z06 C5.

Since the Celica isn't very heavy I'm not so sure you'd miss the low end torque so much, a 6spd GTS weighs in around 2600ish lbs, that's fairly light and it shows, they handle nimbly, even my auto while slow, does handle nice, even with the jarring suspension I put on it doesn't ride terribly over most roads. It's comfortable enough to daily, drives nice at 100+ (I would imagine), cruises on the highway real good, and isn't awful around town. Best of all, you can just toss the thing around and it's super keen to do the same thing each time given the same inputs. Power on, turn sharp, induce understeer, lightly release throttle, snap the ass end in line with the front violently. Lift throttle sharply or brake on turns and you can kick the back end out. Smoothly give throttle and steering inputs and it'll come right up to the edges of adhesion with great feedback. What's so nice is it always does what it does, not much surprise like woah where did that snap oversteer come from.
You saw me hustling down that road, I had no problem hitting 80 pulling away from some of the corners and rounding some of the wider ones at 40-50, the tightest one I think I had to drop to 25 or 30, but never had any drama. Now in the past when I had just a RSB there was some snap oversteer drama LOL. Now there's none of that. Course like $1,500 of suspension will do that with sticky summer tires.

And if you really miss the torque just invest another $5,000 and turbo it.

The C5 I'm not sure what to do. I don't particularly care for how the fixed roof coupe looks, to me the regular liftback looks a lot better. That and the liftback would be a lot more useful as a daily/only car with the giant cargo space they have. I remember looking before and for the C5 the Z06 isn't as drastically different as in later generations, for example the brakes are exactly the same as the base model the Z06 just happens to have the brake ducts added. The main difference being the heads and intake and then the transmission, suspension is different but more of a wash since that'd be easy to put onto a regular Vette if not something better from the aftermarket. I think there were a few weight saving tricks in the Z06 like a thinner windshield and no sound deadening, that and the FRC is a little stiffer since no removable targa top.

Would just have to find a 7th gen GT-S 6-speed to see how it drives. I found a dyno chart of a N/A Elise at the wheels:

Hmmm, I wonder where the cams swap over... laugh.gif If I could shift out at like 4-5K and it still get up to speed decently then that'd be fine, I just don't want to have to bounce off the red line to get to the speed limit in a timely manner. That's the one thing about the Firebird I really like, I can granny shift out at 2,500 and get up to speed just as fast or quicker than I did in the Celica or Miata bouncing off the red line. I know it may sound silly, but I don't like having to abuse my car all the time just so I can get up to speed and it not take forever to do it. The Celica, and especially the Miata, were really light but the engines were so lacking in torque you just had to rev them out. The 7A was fairly torque biased for what it was though, and still had to rev it out. Which without driving them I think I'd have a hard time deciding between the 7th gen GT-S or the RSX, since they're kind of similar in many ways. Though I think I'd like a Z32, since it seems to fall between something like the Celica and Firebird in terms of power and handling. Should be quick enough and have enough torque to keep me happy in that regard and then the handling should be pretty good to keep me happy there too.

So compiled a list that needs further investigation, mostly a rehash of lists past but that's ok:
'94-95 Nissan 300ZX
'94-95 Toyota MR2
'95-98 Nissan 240SX
'00-05 Toyota Celica GT-S
'02-06 Acura RSX Type S
'94-96 Chevrolet Corvette
'99-05 Mazda Miata

Which I'll probably run into the same problem with the Vette as before, and that's finding a daily driver 6-speed car. Seems like with the C4 all the daily drivers are automatics and all the 6-speeds are garage queens. I wish I could find them all and test them back to back, but really just have to depend on written and video reviews and information. Which the Corvette would be my top pick since it's everything I like about the Firebird but in a smaller and lighter package with IRS. Corvette aside the 300ZX sticks out to me the most in terms of what I'd like. Between the 240SX, MR2, and Miata it's more of a wash on paper. Really the same as far as the Celica and RSX, though I think I might like the Celica more.

For the Celica, get an earlier 00-02 GTS, cable throttle, no air injection, but tighter trans and you'll need to replace the lift bolts (but they should have been replaced already by this point). Ah and the Celica has an OEM HID option you can swap on or just run a wire harness and H7 rally bulbs, either way gets you some pretty awesome lighting.
