Aww, now I'm sad... The Carbon Blue looks fairly nice too, though it's really dark and looks black in all but the brightest of light:

It'd be nice to have a nice blue car for once, since purple and teal is so rare on cars blue is the best I can hope for.

Never been a fan of the carbon blue. It's too purple in the sun (for me).

Zephyr Blue can be made to look REALLY sharp.

There's that thundercloud gray/silver color that's pretty stunning too. On mobile so someone else can find a picture but that color was ahead of its time.

Thundercloud was a rare color. If you could find a 2005 Tsunami in thundercloud, it is like a unicorn (I've seen one in person). A very pretty color.

As for headlight HID's, go with 55W.

That's ok, nobody seems to understand me wanting to sell the Firebird for a Celica or a Miata, MR2, etc... I'm just too anti solid axle I suppose, but I guess you never know until you try.

Also apparently 245/40-17 is pretty common and isn't that over-sized, so 17x9 would be awesome on something like the Celica. From looking around seems 17x9 +35mm is the sweet spot in terms of fitment. ALL THE GRIP.

Do not put 55W HID in the OEM housings, it will damage the bowls and you'll be out some very expensive headlights. Don't put 55W HID in the halogen either, it will also damage the bowls over time. There's only a few OEM and a few aftermarket projectors that are known to take higher wattage HID and not suffer burned bowls, the Celica stuff is not them. Stick with only OEM bulbs in the headlights, Philips, Osram, etc, aftermarket tend to let out more UV light which damages the bowls.

I wouldn't want to do a HID re-base anyway, would stick with halogen in halogen housings.

Looking around Craigslist there are three GT-S 6-speed locally for $3,500 right now. Though two of them have 200K miles on them, one black in decent looking shape and one white with the action package that looks fairly clean. Then another with 170K or so miles on it that's silver but it looks rough. Promising to have so many nearby. Though I'd really want to get one with 150K or less miles on it, preferably closer to 100K.

Yes, 100K or under is best but it's a 15+ year old car sadly. I'm sure some little old lady has one somewhere for you to find though!

Shouldn't be too terribly hard to find one with 100-150K, one would think. I mean it'll be a daily driver so some garage queen wouldn't make sense, but reasonably low miles would be nice since if you buy with 100-150K in good shape you know you have at least another 100K in it. Which I guess the 2ZZ-GE is fairly bullet proof outside of the lift bolts on the earlier engines, which should be replaced by now anyway. I suppose in typical Toyota C-series transmission fashion 3rd gear synchros might be something to look out for. I imagine the rest is standard used car fare.

Yeah when you test drive one, just be rough on the trans to diagnose grinding and make sure you can hit lift. Other than that, it's a Corolla. Haha! A sexy Corolla.

So I keep trying to decide what's more of a nuisance, FWD or solid axles. Once I was up and moving in the Celica being FWD really wasn't an issue and especially after learning to trail brake and left foot brake, the only time it should pose an issue is from a stop or lower speed getting on it. Whereas the solid axle is a hindrance all the time unless you're launching it. I dunno, I've tried to be ok with the solid axle but I just can't get past it. Sure it handles fine at the speed limit or a little above, in fact it does well for what it is, but the feel is still meh and it's just not IRS. I know obvious deduction there, but it's just not as good and never will be. I guess some can overlook that, but I guess I can't. I guess it's time to add suspension snob onto my resume next to manual snob.

Interestingly enough the Flex Z is the series supposed to be made for over here as well, but I noticed the Japanese market are a good bit softer than the ones meant for here. 4 kgf/mm front and 6kgf/mm rear vs 7 kgf/mm front and 8 kgf/mm rear. So that's intriguing. Which there's still the Super Street series I found as well which are even stiffer at 7 kgf/mm front and 9 kgf/mm rear:

So after just searching for 2ZZ-GE exhaust videos, finally found some good ones. Of course they were mostly Lotus and swapped MR-S, but for a naturally aspirated I4 it sounds pretty good. Easily the best sounding naturally aspirated I4 I can think of anyway. With a proper exhaust there really isn't any rasp or buzziness, just an aggressive sporty sound. I think the combination of high compression and the cam profiles is what makes for the nicer sound, since even a low compression V8 can sound bad.

Also found a post on fuel efficiency and they said to shift around 3,100 rpm, so if it's spritely enough shifting around 3,000-4,000 that'd be nice. Really the only obstacle is selling the Firebird and then finding and buying a Celica.

I smoked my Celica battery floater, bought a new one AND finally the correct cables and stuff so I can have it connected all the time (eyelets) and with a fuse so I won't smoke it again. Costs more to do it right but I should have been doing it right all along.

I'll have to go back and look to see what was used, they didn't say in the title or in the video anywhere so it'd be in the description if at all.

You could make a container out of poly-carbonate sheets, would probably be the easiest and cheapest thing to do. That or since it's smaller than a business card, perhaps some kind of business card holder, tray, or box. That or playing/trading card, though they're even bigger but finding a clear box/case would be easy.

In all seriousness though the more I look into it the more like the idea of the Celica GT-S. It's everything I liked about my Celica, but better(interior aside). Should be better handling, and it'll definitely be a lot faster which was my only real qualm with the it(well and it was red). Just so much hassle selling and buying cars though.
