Took the sc400 out for a long ride today, 300miles roughly. Was averaging around 22mpg at 75 with a couple spirited runs. I honestly can’t get over how well this car was built. Yes it heavy, but it rides amazing. Res delete is nice, doesn’t make the car to loud, but just enough to hear that v8 rumble.

I've considered a SC400 on and off. Get one fully loaded with the heated seats and moonroof, etc... then I can be swaddled in luxury and comfort. I was looking into them after the Miata, the '98-00 models with the 5-speed auto. With the gated selector on them I figured could manually shift it when I wanted to.

I completed the black interior swap on mine, made a custom headliner and rear deck lid as well. Makes a world of difference. I installed aftermarket heated units to the seats for front and rear so that’s a nice custom touch. Currently on Supra drop springs which makes the car ridiculously low. It will going under the knife this winter with post cd009 manual trans swap. I have been collecting parts for the last 6 months, also the Collins adapter is expensive but this will be a no expense spared Lexus. After that’s complete I’ll focus on body and start the process of stripping, body work, and paint. Aiming for a dark dark purple to almost black. I found a few I like but more than likely it will be custom from uncles shop.
Also in the next couple weeks, i will be the proud owner of highosilver, robs first 3sgte swap vehicle. Funny story about that was we both found it at the same exact time but he time off of work to pick it up. I ****ing love driving those cars, we get one in at the shop that's nice and black on black and every chance I get to drive it I take and it's such a treat to drive every time. |

Went to order the Centric rear rotors and Denso TT plugs off RockAuto and apparently I never changed my address with the bank, which is odd since I've ordered plenty of times through Amazon. So RockAuto cares but Amazon doesn't, go figure. Once that's sorted will order that since the front rotors are here as are the rubber axle bump stops. I guess after that just leaves figuring out if I want to do lowering springs or not and if so which ones, then order shocks. Part of me wants to try and improve the Firebird, but to have a chance of being totally happy with it will require a ton of money between suspension and weight reduction. Or just take it more towards being a grand tourer and just do maintenance and try to make it comfier, and get a Miata on the side for handling shenanigans. OR sell it; buy a SC400 to pamper my crippled ass 90% of the time, and then buy a Miata to undo that the other 10% of the time.

I vote purchasing a sc400!!!!! I fall in love with it more and more each day I drive it, it’s going to be put up soon before the white stuff starts flying. I’m rebuilding the gauge cluster over winter and the ac controls. Typical yota problems. And surprisingly it’s decent on gas, averaged 25 mpg this past week driving back and fourth to the New and old house. Recently did a full tune, water pump, oil pump and tbelt service, now I’m good for another 4-5 Years. Believe it or not I purchased this car because I missed my 88 Lincoln mark mii LSC. They reminded me of each other some how. That car was amazing, long front end, active air ride, seats were amazing and had plenty of get up and go.

In retrospect it's what I should've done, but I'm a stubborn ass and insisted on a manual that hurts me from time to time for my daily driver. Then again it's not like the manual is what really causes pain, but it's just driving itself as having my arms up on the wheel kills my neck and shoulders. I figure though with the SC400 having power tilt an telescope I could put it close enough to me so I could steer with my hands in my lap right in front of me with my back and neck stretched back against the seat for on the highway, that or some position that doesn't compromise safety while still being comfortable. Which I'd want one loaded with heated seats, if they're good enough anyway, to help keep me from getting sore while I run the A/C full blast to keep me from getting hot. Problem is I deep down don't want to sell the Firebird for reasons unknown to me at times.

It's because you're all broke back mountain with that damn firebird, "I just can't quit you" When the ass is good it's good? get a tesla with autopilot. get in the back and enjoy Yeah except for the autopilot isn't perfect, though it would help tremendously on the highway. -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

Back in my day we didn’t have any of the smart phones for the texting in the car! You actually had to pay attention to the road instead of the Tweetbook and the Youvines. Why, we’d turn the car around if the kids were misbehaving! Autopilot. Bah! What’s this world coming to? Next thing you know, Google will be making glasses and roofs will be solar panels. I think the 90's up to the early 00's is the sweet spot in terms of automotive technology, you have good fuel injection managed by the one and only computer in the car. Nothing more, and nothing less. All I need is air conditioning, power windows, cruise, and stereo(with buttons). All this other crap is unnecessary.

Some random kid at a stop light leaned out the pass window of his dad's Ford Ranger smiled and said 'hey nice car' and I smiled and gave him a thumbs up.

Some random kid at a stop light leaned out the pass window of his dad's Ford Ranger smiled and said 'hey nice car' and I smiled and gave him a thumbs up. That's always a nice feeling. That's the one thing I really like about the Firebird, I feel special while piloting it. Which I felt somewhat special in the Celica, but the Firebird sounds like magic and it always draws looks even though it's not that loud and I'm just idling along. Side note, I finally convinced my brother to put a god damn catalytic converter on the Genesis. It's a 3" metallic core MagnaFlow so it shouldn't really cut power any and it should hold up to the turbo, plus now having the windows down or the climate control set to draw in won't kill you while sitting still or moving slowly. Now if only it didn't beat you to death. -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

Need to find a SC400 to see how it rides, though based on factory spring rates and etc... I don't see how it could be much better than the Firebird aside from the compliance gained from having IRS. Same wheel diameter between the two, both have double wishbone with shocks on the front, and both have shocks in the rear though the SC400 having double wishbone and the Firebird the solid axle. The spring rates on the SC400 are a little bit stiffer though, and the car is also a bit heavier though they're similar in size. So I dunno, on paper I can't foresee a huge difference. It's just getting to a point where I lament driving because it hurts to drive in general, and most times having to clutch causes knee and leg pain. I hate this disease...

Sell the firebird and just complain about having nothing, this way you'll have something new to complain about and some money.

The rate things are going might as sell it and then I can give up my driver's license so I can be put on GHB so then I can maybe actually ****ing get some sleep, and maybe things will start to get better instead of progressively getting worse.
