Well the Maxima was the only one made in Japan up until the 6th gen, so there's that.
I wish I could find a comparison of the 240SX, MR2, and Miata since those are the three I'm really looking into. Anything else is either too big/heavy, too unreliable, too old, too expensive, or too heavy of a clutch. Kinda leaning towards a 240SX just since I've never owned a Nissan and it'd be the most useful as a car, that and the world needs at least one nicely done 240SX. -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

Ehhh I would vote out the mr2, I've owned a couple and known alot that have owned them in the past. Working on them is a pain. I would go for the 240, up north they are all rusted to hell. If you find a clean one, I would grab it asap. I had a 92 and loved it. Built it up and then traded for a 96 cummins.

The MR2 looks so good though, and in theory if nothing breaks it being a pain to work on doesn't matter right? That was a concern though, as my uncle had one and even being a Toyota master tech he didn't particularly care for doing anything on it. I was looking last night and there is what looks like a nice '95 240SX for cheap locally, but it's red and automatic so that's a no go. Not like I have the money at the moment anyway, but even if it weren't the worst colour possible I'm in no condition to be swapping something. If someone was wanting to do a full drivetrain swap anyway it'd be good I suppose.

Accidentally left 11's backing into the garage, nice to know the LSD works so well that barely getting on it just enough to overcome gravity and up the slope into the garage it's locking up:
Of course it'd be nicer if just going up the road and back enough to get it up to temp didn't kill my knee to the point where by that time it was fluttering and caused me to let the clutch out too much and spin the tires. Sigh, I thought that maybe it'd be better now but noooo. This post has been edited by Box: Mar 8, 2018 - 5:46 PM -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

The lighting in that photo is screwing with me, it looks like the tracks are inverted.

Oh yea, turns out I needed to find my left thumb yesterday. So I used the pneumatic thumb detector and found it real good. I found it so good it's finally stopped bleeding after about 24 hours and the nail was nearly knocked off from the initial hit.

Sounds like when my brother found his thumb with a falling brake rotor. Take lots of turmeric, natural inflammatory.

I think I'll stick with acetaminophen, it's proven to work for mild pain and won't alter blood clotting. I understand the chemistry behind it and trust that it's safe in appropriate doses. 1000mg acetaminophen along with 500mg naproxen works a treat for knocking down pain safely and fairly quickly, just have to space out the dosing and not do more than 500mg naproxen in 12 hours and no more than 3000mg acetaminophen in 24 hours. Don't mix up which is which! They're safe to mix and help each other to work better. Though right now I'm on nothing and it doesn't hurt all that much, that may change when I lay down so I'll take something for sleeping if needed.

Turmeric is a plant used for inflammation, so like how you'd use ibuprofen or naproxen but none of the bad side effects and it seems to work better. It's also a delicious spice and you can take as much as you need. Hopefully the nail doesn't fall off, my brother got lucky and it didn't fall off until it was almost grown out anyway.

anti-inflammatory you mean!
I don't want a bunch of anti-inflammatory, inflammation is part of the healing process so I'm trying to limit my intake of those meds, just analgesics for dulling the pain some. I'm thinking it looked worse than it was cause it's already feeling a lot better, it's not like when I almost took my finger tip off. That looked bad and felt bad, this one I was able to bandage on my own and what not, the other time I needed help cause I was having a hard time functioning in a little bit of a daze. -------------------- |

Yes, anti-inflammatory. I was thinking natural cure for inflammation, and wires crossed to make the result you see above. Inflammation is part of the injury response and healing, but if you didn't draw blood or once it's stopped it's best to try and get it under control. At least that's been the experiences with me anyway. I've noticed when things were done to help inflammation, either topical and/or orally, that it seems to heal quicker(soreness stops sooner) and leaves less of a physical mark that also fades quicker. Then again with fibro your body is already in a state of inflammation and it overreacts to injury, so I guess for a normal person results may vary.

So I drove the Audi from the dealership my brother works for since the front passenger axle popped out on him on the way to work and had it towed there to fix it about a week or so ago, it was about 40 or so miles with a lot of stop and go at first so it's definitely an issue of clutch weight. Also digital throttles and manuals are a match made in Hell, that and I hate turbos. Or at the least I hate turbos when they're the only thing that makes the engine powerful, turbos on a V8 that'd make 300+ horsepower naturally aspirated otherwise would be fine.

Reactionless air impacting ratchets are awesome, but I'm having doubts about the longevity of the mini one I bought. The head gets warm when it's ran for a long period of time, it seems like a lighter duty tool. But I also can't think of a situation where it would need to be ran for a longer period of time than a few seconds because it's blazing fast. The throttle is hard to feather, so that's a downer. I think with a much stiffer spring it might be more controllable. It's because it uses a pintle valve not a spool valve so the air is much more all on or all off and air pressure starts to overcome the spring once the pintle is open past a point. I'll find a stiffer spring next week sometime after work at the Ace hardware.

Ah yes, the good ole 'nothing nothing nothing nothing EVERYTHING' engines. Boost threshold is a pain. Is wasn't so bad once out of stop and go traffic, problem there was trying to get up to speed and not hold revs out and going to the next gear which you fell out of boost while trying to maintain distances etc... Like under 2K it was like any other anemic four cylinder, from 2-3K it felt like a weak six cylinder, and then from there on it was like a decently strong six cylinder. I just rather have all the power now, not halfway through the rev range. Like if it was powerful out of boost that'd be one thing, but ugh... Though I think a lot of that was exacerbated by the fact it was a 3,500 pound car with all wheel drive, if it were a 2,000-2,500 pound car that was either FWD or RWD it'd not be as bad. Still nowhere as annoying as the digital throttle with a manual, like an inch of dead space in the accelerator and then it feels the same throughout the entire range of travel. I probably wouldn't mind a digital throttle if it felt and acted just like a cable throttle, but I've yet to come across one. Also even though the A4 is rear biased AWD the way it's split most of the time, I think 40/60, it feels more like FWD than RWD. It feels like a FWD car that also happens to have grip and traction in the rear more so than a RWD car that also happens to have grip and traction in the front, if that makes any sense. It's a nice driving car though, and it'd grip and haul through tight turns that you'd understeer through in a FWD or sling the tail out in a RWD. I like it more than FWD, not more than RWD though. I think so only good for airing up tires etc... -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed
