I believe the starter in the Vibe is failing, so I'll be replacing that tonight.

The 2ZZ-GE starter fits the 1ZZ and has a lot more cranking power for super cold starts. Same location on the bell housing since duh the 1ZZ and 2ZZ can share transmissions.

You offering to rebuild the C60, cause every C60 needs a rebuild. I'm not going through all that just to find out the synchro's are shot to hell by the previous owner. No, I want fresh ones to grind up myself, thank you very much! But hey if my car is as fast as a 2014 BRZ is then what the heck do I need a 6spd for anyway!? laugh.gif I'm still having a hard time with that one, I feel so bad for the guy though. I really hope it's not cause there's something wrong with his engine, he had some coolant loss problems early on but I haven't heard anything since about it.

Just find one where the previous owner knew how to drive, or it has low enough miles to not matter. Hmm... Well if the BRZ was also an automatic they're probably dead even since manual models are pretty much dead even, more a driver's race than anything. It's not like it was a Mustang GT where provided they didn't veer into a nearby crowd when they matted it to the floor they'd have blown your doors off indubitably.

That or if the BRZ was a manual and driver error incurred with downshifting, shifting, or not doing those properly and/or as needed.

He said he had a sloppy shift but still....every shift is a sloppy shift with an automatic

Well, most every automatic. I think the ones used in the RC F etc... that lock the converter all the time after first gear are supposed to be fairly decent in that regard. But yeah, there's good reason for my disdain towards them in general. I really can't think of any instance I'd prefer a torque converter automatic.

Then you need all the cooling capacity for said automatic, why big rigs use manuals. The only reason most all consumer trucks do these days is because said consumers are incompetent, why do you think Ford came out with trailer backup assist...

That and I don't think an automatic can match a manual for tow capacity, another reason why most big rigs still use manual. I think Volvo? semis had the option of an automatic, but it's still standard procedure to know how to use a manual to get your CDL.

Actually you can still get a Ram with the Cummins and a 6-speed manual, I think it's the only bigger truck still offered with a manual. Then as far as regular trucks maybe the Tacoma and Frontier can get one as an option still, but that's about it.

I guess maybe if you were doing bracket racing on a budget a torque converter automatic would be ideal, otherwise some kind of computer controlled manual would probably still be better.
