I see you picked the lipstick red COP cover over the black cover. Your garage looks like mine now. Same floor jack, same ratchet, besides the ratchet is the plan B ratchet, aka stress reliever, aka best tool in the shop, commonly called a hammer (although I prefer my ballpeen hammer- it doesn’t ask twice,) and beside the car is a chair for Mai See to “help” you from. Nearly identical to my garage.

haha. no not really decided on the red. I just threw it on because I didn't want the engine getting dirty. the black one is cleaned and sitting in my basement. I think the black COP cover and black heat shield will look sleek. I might try painting the red one a 6p3 if I get the chance. would be interesting to see.

LOL, the chair is a much needed finishing touch to the garage. but yeah you also see the TWO cherry pickers; one to pull the 7afe while the other drops the BEAMS in. hahaha we'll see if I even have room to maneuver two of them at once.

I had the TRD round one in my blue 7th gen and hated it. Haha! It feels so awkward in the hand. LOVED my Matrix style 6 speed knob in my red one. I say go for factory.

Yeah, I'm liking that one the least out of all the knobs. It feels very small and light, a bit too small and too light.
I do have the standard TRD one too and I've liked it when I tried it so I might stick with that until I can find a nice stock leather wrapped one.

Best shift knob I've had came out of an '88 Accord. I have one retapped and installed in my '84 Celica. Might have to try and find another one for my 6G.

I prefer the standard TRD knob. If there's a way to get one of those weighted, it would be tits.

Interesting. haha I woudln't mind trying out other factory knobs to see how they feel too. maybe when I'm at the junkyard I'll grab a couple.

I thought you would've prefered a dragon ball or pokeball one. laugh.gif

but I think a weighted standard TRD one would be as you say, "tits" as well.

Funny enough, I have a pokeball shift knob. lol It's somewhere in my room I think. Might put it in the Celica since it looks funny in the Supra with the reverse lock-out collar in place.

Thread pitch is M12x1.25, so check with Subarus (and the FRZ86) as well. They have some pretty nice shift knobs.

yeah, would look weird in the Supra. If I ever fix the Freelica, I'll probably throw a Dragonball one on there just for kicks. Do a whole Itasha scheme to it just to appease my inner otaku. biggrin.gif

Currently, in my 6G, I have the "knob" that came with the car when I bought it, Hurst Pistol Grip. Makes me want to make video game shooting noises everytime I shift.

A Hurst has its place, maybe on something that was made much earlier, is overweight and slow in some ways and makes burbly noises [and/or is American(s)]. I can't really comment though as I have an ebay Honduh knob. It works well.

took some measurements of the shifter and gave it to the expert.
He told me that indeed I have the V1 of the TRD quick shifter.
not that it really matters to me. TRD is still TRD. smile.gif

I wish it were that easy bud... sadly these are discontinued and rare so only way to get one is wait it out for other members to give it up or get lucky and find it for sale somewhere. I got mine off of the facebook page but I have been searching and waiting for a few months now.

The TRD quick shifter comes as the whole assembly but since it's so hard to find there are alternatives. Many members have bought the 7th gen short shifter off of eBay and installed it in their stock assembly. It's a pretty decent upgrade and was what I planned on doing until I came across this one.

I think that might be because of the 2gr like you said though or did u hate it even before then? I liked it when I drove Daniel's BEAMS.

I like my TRD short shifter...for the most part... it gets kind of... gummy... getting into 3rd and I think 1st IIRC. I'm hoping that's cuz of bushings otherwise it's time for new cables and ain't nobody got time for that.
