Sounds like if it's not a tune issue you might need to check some stuff out. Check for power to the coil when cranking between ground and the power wire at the coil and check for pulsing ground between B+ and the other coil wire while cranking so you can see if it's a loss on the power side of the circuit like from the ignition system or a loss on the control side of the circuit like the ignition module or whatever is running your coil now.

turns out one of the wires to the distributor got cut, so i patched it up real quick with a butt connector. Got spark now. Still won't start. sumbitch....

Is it just super flooded? Dry the plugs and cylinders with brake cleaner and compressed air and put a little oil down the cylinders and bump the starter to spread the oil. That'll bring compression back up and make it easier to start.

Anyone ever have issues with the car sending power to the ECU after pulling the EFI Main relay? Had a tough time pulling the relay out by hand and ended up shimmying it out with a couple of flatheads. Now the sumbitch don't wanna power on unless I run a jumper pin. Thinking I may've fudged the relay when I pulled it. Then I bought a relay from O'Reilly's and that's not working either, so maybe the connection in the fuse box got fudged, too. Haven't dug into it yet.

Anywho, Tried to set timing on the motor to 0 and checked that the Link standalone had timing set to 0. Still no start.

ECU isn't seeing oil or fuel pressure for whatever reason. Maybe the ECU is set default to not start when it shows 0 pressure.

Uuhhh....even after cranking the motor a billion times over, I noticed that oil isn't pouring out of the turbo feed line or where the oil pressure sensor is on the head. Not too familiar with these motors to know if that's normal. I'd assume i'd get some kind of dribble coming out of either spot.

Other than that, towed the car home since the Supra is in the shop for some transmission work giving me space in my 1-car garage. Assuming work doesn't call me for something stupid, should be able to get some more time this weekend to diddle with it.

any luck? have not followed up on here in a while, cool to see your still working on the celica. i went for a little roadtrip in mine last week before i parked it again. i've got a bunch of third gen parts here and prolly a bunch over at mikes place if ya need to swap something in to troubleshoot.

nothing yet. i pulled the pan off to check the oil pump from where the pick-up attaches and it's dry, so I'll need to test the gear on the pump to see if it actually works. Right now, just fighting the power steering pump so i can drop it to pull the belt off so i can get the crank pulley off. I'll try to tackle it in the morning.

After a year of waiting and some heart break, my wheels finally landed stateside and should be here on Tuesday....car's still not running...

Took me a while to get to pulling the timing belt off with the engine still in the car. Kinda don't wanna do that again....

Gonna take a look at the oil pump over the weekend to see what's up and then probably burn the car down.

I was expecting this to be a shiny black finish, but it ended up being a chrome finish with a black body, so not bad for their RBC finish.

That's the color I wanted, but I got in too late. When I ordered, Rays was getting ready to discontinue the color unless they got enough orders in. Sadly, they didn't get enough, but had just released this finish when I received the bad news about the pink. Settled for this one. To be honest, I'm ok with the color and not really all THAT excited for it because I really had my heart set on the Sakura Pink wheels.



On another note, instead of fiddling with the oil pump today, I went to clean out the storage shed in the backyard and went ahead with replacing the brakes on the car to clear up space in the shed. So much rust...

Tomorrow, I'm off to Vegas for Supras In Vegas. When I get back, I'll wrap up the last corner for the brakes and then take the oil pump off since it's the same corner.

I have minion eyes sun shades in my daily driver, but they don't fit the right way they fit side ways so my car looks super high and stressed out when I park it. I keep a duplicate set in the Celica. I also have a penguin seat cover for the passenger side in the car that I sometimes use.

I pulled the oil pump off tonight and that hoe is bone dry. I oiled up the gear housing like the BP oil spill and turned the gear with a 1400ft-lb impact at full tilt and I can see it puking up the oil from one side to the other.

Not sure why the oil pump isn't picking up oil from the pan like a $2 hooker on Christmas day.

I left some oil in the pump to see if it'll help prime the pump to pull some kind of vacuum or something and slapped it back on the block with some duct tape. I'll dump a couple of quarts of oil into the motor later and turn the gear with a hamster wheel to see if that helps.

until then, back to Among Us cuz someone is looking a little sus over there in the electrical room....

Should you drop the oil pan and check the oil pickup screen for blockage or the pan for poor clearance to the oil pickup?
