one thing to take into account that most people dont realize is that unless you install it all correctly anything will sound like crap. My uncle told me about a time where someone put like 8 subs in the car and a bunch of tweeters and what not anyway to make a long story short the car sounded great when it was off but once the sound was on and the car was on it shounded like sh** because the guage wire was picking up everything from the engine so they could basically hear engine components through speakers. though he did recommend to get the wire you want and twist it so it acts as a shield and doesnt pick up as much interference. not sure if wire is sold twisted but it would definetly be worth your time to do it. just my .02

ummm I saw the world campion car and guess what it was the Polk car. So don't hate. that car was really cool the install was amazing. The ones mentioned above are very good for entry level and have a very good rep even if you don't like them.

I agree wiring is key to making a system thump.

Usually you run power cables along the driver side, and signal cables on the passenger side... just a fyi..

And on unibody chassis the best ground would be the seatbelt bolt....

World champion in what? For the price you pay for polk, you can get better for the money. You won't be seeing polk winning any spl comps anytime soon.....SQ comps? rolleyes.gif Wow a COOL car, that must make it sound so much better!!!!!! rolleyes.gif

The new line from rockford or the old line?

Momo's might get old rockfords in SQ, but he new line? It's a toss up.

The current leader of the termpro.com db Drag 2004 series, when rating using the certified SPL, actually uses a Pioneer headunit combined with woofers from Digital Designs and amps from Crossfire
From what I remember he averages over 170 dB every time ... (and thats pretty loud tongue.gif)
He is running 20 000 watt rms though ... from 20 amps to 5 woofers ...

The top guy in Street Max 1-2 is using Earthquake amps with Beyond Audio woofers and Earthquake components smile.gif

I think the record is around 177db......you won't see much movement in that number, since 180 is about the limit.

The world record is 175.5 dB using Fifteen Cerwin Vega Stroker 12's, in a 1974 VW Bus by Team Pure Sound...

A noted mention should always go out to Team Gates (Alma Gates) she has won numerous SPL events using Kicker subs.

Of all the speakers you guys list, none of them are 6.75 in. Focal, DB Quartz, etc. What 6.75 Component speakers can you suggest- if you don't like Polk.

6.5" will fit fine... if worst comes the worst make a trim plate... even 8's will fit with small small modifications.

Not much fits stock area. Make a plate like my "How-To."

I have elemental designs e12o.44's and they are pretty much as good if not better than JL w6's.

I have a set of pioneer ts-c160r's in front, and they sound good...but I will probably switch them out for some Image Dynamics Chamelions.

In the rear, i have pioneer ts-d170r's (6.75 inch) and they fit right in.

For amps: I recommend Crossfire, Tsunami. I also had a phoenix gold that was pretty awesome, but they are really overpriced.

Conclusion:

a) get some image dynamics components if u have the money... also look at focal 165k's.
b) for subs: elemental designs, all the way. efficient, well priced.
c) for amps: whatever you want... just make sure it does its rated power and look for RMS, not MAX power.

If all you want is to be able to hear good quality sound at speed, try amplifing a pair of decent quality 6 x 9s on a custom rear shelf made out of plywood or similar as it will enhance the bass and mid range and use a 10 inch sub moulded to the side of the trunk and mount the amp to the underside of the shelf. this will leave you some usable space. check out my profile to see what i done, i drive a hatchback but it might give you some ideas.

Best o luck biggrin.gif
