Stock GT....what can I do to get more out of the engine and how much hp will each mod yield. $300 budget and nitrous is not an option.

Thanks

Welcome to the site! smile.gif Sorry about those immature sarcastic posts from a couple members(If you saw them...I removed them.)

Anyway, you could make a custom intake for your car for probably $50-70 in materials. There's a how-to article about how to do this in the how-to articles section of the site.

Also, you could get a custom exhaust system made for under $300 I'd imagine. I got mine made for a total of $150 or so...it's crush bent, which isn't as good as mandrel-bent, but it's still better than stock. smile.gif

I've heard good things about underdrive pulleys for our cars as well. I think Unorthodox Racing makes one for the GT. You'd probably wanna do some more research on this one though...I don't know much about it.

You could modify a header to work for your car for under $300 I think, but it wouldn't be much of a gain.

There are a few ideas for you. smile.gif

Groundwires are also a nice touch. I personally would do the exhaust system. DGperformance makes a race mid-pipe for the 5s, and you could get a muffler welded on, that would get you very little power, but it would sound Great.

Thanks guys, this is my daughters ride but I just cant help tinkering. My toy is a 95 Camaro Z28 conv with a forged 383 and a 150 shot of nitrous, so I can ignore the comments about the Celica. I wanted to get a GTS but got to good a deal to pass up on this GT.

I guess the same things that work for my Z will work for the Celica.....CAI, catback, cutout, headers. I was just looking for some numbers that these mods would produce on the 4 banger in the Celica .

I know turbo kits are 2-3k but what kind of numbers do these produce in the lower boost versions.

Thanks fellows.

hmm what year Celica do you have? from your username and comments re: the gts model it seems like you might have a 7th gen (00-04). this site is strictly for 6th gen (94-99) celicas. if you do have a 7g you might want to check out celica.net or newcelica.org, if not ignore my comments I just wanted to make sure there wasn't any confusion.

cheers,

Pieter

With a 300 dollar budget you're not really looking for much in terms of gains in performance. It could go much further in terms of looks or sound. Intake and exhaust are probably the only logical sort of things to do performance wise with that budget, then you'd have some left over to maybe put something into stereo or something.

lol, yup wrong place. But the good thing is that there is a lot more support for the 7th gen celicas than there are for the 6th gen. Good luck!

CAI, Muffler, Exhuast System with a Straight threw cat, Redoing your ground wires in like 4g, and adding some would be a nice touch.
