Ok, Finally the doc is almost complete....its at around 90% Both myself and a friend who has a camry (same engine 5SFE) completed the swaps. There are
little differences in both cars but the document will cover both.

If interested I will post it soon and if you curious ...email me

Do a write up. I see a lot of people asking about this, but nobody has posted a decent write up, besides the one on toyotacelicaonline. That one is for a 5th gen w/o the ECT controlled transmission.

the thing i like about having an auto is that I can treat the car like compact luxury and such.

by putting a sound system, having hte leather, i can cruise around, enjoy myself and have a good time handling corners and easily driving through traffic

maybe its me but if i had a manual i would be sad because id feel like i was driving a beast but i know im just puttin along in the celi smile.gif

i still love celis though, you just arent gonna get them very fast without a swap

If you had a manual you'd realize what your missing, to me driving an auto is just so dull. To really enjoy driving you need a manual. Its better in every aspect.

Exactly! I drove my celi around for almost 6 years auto. Then a year ago i did the trans swap and now every time i drive around, out to the grocery store or where ever, its an event! Its just so much more fun and really becomes second nature that you sometimes dont even notice you are doing it. If you focus on it, then you really become much more engaged in the process of driving. If you want to jsut relax, then your instict takes over and you shift just as you would breathe as you are jamming along to your music. Now that i have it, I can never go back to auto... ever

Exactly once you learn you dont even think about it. I think it makes you a better driver aswell, you can't mess around with stuff as much driving a manual and it seems to make you more alert to whats happening around you. In an auto I feel like Im going to pass out from bordom. Any one who bought an auto just punch yourself in the face right now! wink.gif I was actually against buying a manual cause I didnt know how to drive one but I found a decent local mx-3 and bought it, learned in about 3 days how to drive it, took a while to really get the hang of all the little things. But Ill never ever ever buy an auto, EVER.

Also what the heck is fun about racing someone in an auto, its like playing a video game, hit the pedal hold the wheel and sit there. Theres nothing like running through the gears hearing your engine roaring and in my case spooling tongue.gif If you want an auto buy a freakin Buick tongue.gif

Another thing that pisses me off driving an auto is I like to speed up without the freaking auto tranny going all nuts switching gears on me and ****, that bugs me so much on the highway!

Ive listed this a few times, but here it is again. This is the list that i used, i got it from someone who did the swap on celica.net. I had a shop do my swap, but they said that they didnt need any extra parts. So i guess what i gave them was complete.

-Tranny
-Shifter/cables
-Flywheel
-Clutch Master cyl.
-Slave cyl.
-New clutch
-Clutch metal fluid lines
-Rubber clutch line
-Flywheel bolts
-Pressure plate bolts
-Clutch pedal assy.
-Manual brake pedal assy.
-Tranny fluid
-Brake fluid for clutch
