Hi there,

Im new to this site, just found it today and what a site i must say, its just what ive been looking for!!!!!!!!!

Anyway im wondering if anyone can help me work out what pistons i need to run in my GT4 ST205. Its recently droped the rings on pistons 2+3, so im gonna need to get it rebored. Ive been looking at getting some JE pistons for it but the cheapest i can find them for in the UK is £580 for the 86.5mm

Looking on ebay and other american sites im looking at $500 for the same pistons which works out at about £270. quite a significant saving. However trying to work out which ones i need is a bit confusing

Part no 162109 which i have found on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...&category=33617

tells me that the Compression ratio of this piston is 9:1, but the standard celica ST205 is 8.5:1

But this piston is listed for the MR2 so does this mean that the valve chamber is a different size or are there different pistons with the same code at different CR

Any help on this would be greatfully recieved

Cheers Olllie

You can use a thicker engine head gasket to reduce the compression ratio.

Your stock head gasket is 1.2mm.
I think you can ask your mechanic to calculate, with the new JE 86.5mm Pistons set, how much thicker should the new engine head gasket be in order to bring down the CR to 8.5.

http://www.fensport.co.uk/ has some...
and if its only the rings, and there is no block damage, you can just get the standard size 86mm pistons from (JE)fensport for £500.00... you;ll save money because you wont have to bore the block.

if your block is not damaged, you can get 86mm pistons so you don,t have to bore your block. the ross pistons are crafted very well and u can't beat the price which includes rings and wrist pins. u could try ross racing pistons,625 s douglas street,el segundo ca 90245 tel. 310 536-0100. ask for joy roble.

I`m fan of JUN products, cuz it happents to see some really FAST and RELIABLE cars with JUN internals.
HKS its also nice......ehmmm....i think you should make your choice in 1 of those 2.
