I'm so angry right now. I was driving on my lunch break going straight on a four lane road in the right lane, going about 38-40 in a 35, and this Intrepid pulled right out in front of me. I locked up my brakes to avoid hitting the car, stopped, then sped around the car and got in front of him. I didn't really cut him off, but he floored it, got probably five feet from my rear bumper, then swerved over and got beside me and rolled down his window. I look over, and see a cop in his uniform.
He was yelling at me to slow down, so I slowed down and then turned off into a Safeway parking lot to get some food. I got my food, already angry because the cop(who wasn't in his cop car) almost destroyed the front end of my car. I got my food, came outside, and found a different cop in his cop car right next to mine. As I got into my car, he yelled at me to step out of the car, so I got out and stood there. He proceeded to lecture me and tell me he was going to write me a ticket for speeding and improper lane change and stuff, so I just told him "You can't legally do that...you didn't see it happen. You can't write the ticket for the other officer, who nearly caused me to get in a wreck." He then lectured me more, and I told him I'd just sit there all day and wait for him to leave, because I knew he'd write me up for every single thing on my car once I got on a public road. He finally left after telling me that I'd better watch out, so I got in my car and drove under the speed limit the entire way back to work. I didn't see any cops, so I didn't get pulled over, but I wouldn't be surprised if I get pulled over a couple times when I'm out tonight because of this. It's not just this though...I'm pulled over at least three times a month, for the stupidest stuff. Not pulling into the closest lane, even though it merges 200 ft. after the intersection(even though every other car did it and always does...I was the one that was pulled over), going 33-34 in a 30, moving my car inside my lane to avoid the worst part of railroad tracks, etc. I routinely get asked if my car is stolen. Last weekend I was pulled over for 45 minutes while I got to do sobriety tests and blow into a breathalizer, all because my car didn't have a front bumper on it at the time. Less than a month ago I was pulled over for swerving into another lane to avoid getting hit by an old lady pulling out of a parking lot in a Lexus SUV. It is absolutely ridiculous, and I am so sick of it. I didn't get pulled over once when my car was teal for over a year and a half. I haven't been pulled over once in my other Celica. I'm convinced that my bright yellow paint job is one of the main reasons why I'm pulled over. Not only does it attract attention even though I'm not driving fast or doing anything wrong, but I think cops look for my car because my friend's dad, who is the sargeant of the police force, absolutely hates my guts. I've been chased out of my friend's house with a taser, and I have a feeling that his dad tells the cops to pull me over. If my car were some color that doesn't stand out, they'd have a harder time doing this, and they wouldn't notice me as much in the first place. So I'm seriously considering painting my car a different color. Maybe black or gunmetal silver or something that doesn't stand out. It's just not worth having my yellow car anymore...I can't drive it and enjoy it anymore. My car needs to be painted anyway, as my mechanic destroyed the whole paint job with his "snow acts like a car cover" theory. I have to get my front bumper and rear wing painted anyway too. So I'm maybe getting the car painted soon. What do you guys think? -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...

I dunno. Your the only yellow celica around.
Good luck with whatever you do. And yes (my brother whos a cop agrees) that yellow is "new red." Its very uncommon and can be seen 3 miles away. |

Get your car in my color... lol...
Naw but seriously, your car color is what makes your car... yours. I wanted to change the color of my car to blue, and everyone told me... just keep it how it is... your color is unique, looks great. Who cares if you donīt know what itīs called. If it comforts you at all, I get pulled over twice a month on average. I have done the breathalizer tests and the whole deal. Although the color stands out, itīs not just that. You have 17īs, exhaust, engine work, etc... all that stands out... cops just love to give it to tricked out foreign cars. Thatīs how they are... period. So I offer you the same advice as my friends... Donīt change ur color. Its dope. Itīs you, you are it... And think of it this way... how are you going to buy those yellow racing seats if you change the color? Your partner in cop-hation. Ed. PS did i mention that loud stereos are illegal? i swear i didnīt know that officer. |

Paint it ASAP. Gunmetal is my top choice. Sorry to hear about all the trouble tho. But neutral and dark colors are your best bet.

COomer, I don't know what to tell you, your car is unique, and the color looked awesome.. but you can't fight the system. You're going to keep being pulled over if you don't make your car less noticible.
What I'm worried tho, is that your friends dad will tell all the cops your NEW color and that you changed it just so they didn't notice you. Its a hard situation, and in fact, I really recommend trying, maybe one last time, to talk to that dick of your friend's dad. Worst comes to worse, call a lawyer and file a harassment suit- that kind of stuff is NEVER treated like a joke and if you talk to your friends dad with the proper legal backing, and make it plain that continued harassment on his orders would lead to a lawsuit against him/or department, I'm pretty sure he'd stop. I'm not sure of the legal ability of this, but it SOUNDS like a good idea to my stupid brain Or just go at you harder and run you off the road, with no cops to call. Seriously, I'd just move out, find a new town to live in. When the law hates you, you're friggin screwed. |

Being pulled over for 3-4 miles per hour over the speed limit (esp. on the freeway?)can't even be legal...city cops and stateys around here have a speedometer discrepancy rule they have to follow: I've been told by a couple of them that they are technically supposed to give you at least a 5mph leeway in case your speedo is a little off, some will even give you up to 10 without a second glance. Seeking legal advice does sound like a good idea...

I had to file a harrasment suit, and i don't even have a body kit or any extreme detail. Just one of the better looking WHITE cars in my city (love those celica's). They pulled me over easily 3 times a week. It works, and especially if you start keeping a record. If you have a camera that records dates and times, keep it with you and take a picture of the officer or the squad car everytime you get pulled over. That was my back up, 40 sum pictures with ZERO tickets, tells ya something doesn't it. (digital camera) Good luck and write back soon with your decision.

Yeah, I may seek legal advice. I'm sick of being constantly harassed by cops.

I know what it's like Coom. When I had the White Celica I would always get pulled over for BS. My system was too loud (when I didn't even have my subs on) and I was 'speeding' while passing a slow ass car doing 45 in the 60. Cops have something for imports that look clean.
Personally, I'd seek legal advice if you get pulled over again and try spunky's advice, it may help. I haven't been pulled over in the Eclipse yet *knock on wood* even though I just put in my system (2 Fosgates) and done some basic mods to the car. I've been followed by cops during the day, during the night, during parking. I guess this car doesn't stand out with its smoke grey color unless I'm doing something they consider 'illiegal' Don't lose the color. I love your Celica and I think its better to spend the money on making the cops leave you alone that ruining a car that you've worked so hard to keep nice. |

I know though, that if I file a complaint, my friend's dad will see it and just hate me more, and tell his officers, and they'll hate me more, and then I'll get more tickets.
Even my parents are against me...I talked to them about it a second ago and my mom ended up screaming at me because she thinks I'm a bad driver and it was all my fault...I bet she wouldn't think the same if I got killed by some cop who can't drive and it wasn't my fault...then again, I don't even think my parents would care. Argh! I hate everything! I can't even leave my house because my relatives are over and my parents are making me stay. -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...

Coomer, I'm sorry, your parents seem to think EVERYTHING is your fault (3s swap and now this). But if you file that harassment suit, and then you start getting pulled over even more..
Judges will usually side with cops, but when it's a question of "bad cops?" they are careful as hell to make sure that either the cops are punished, or you don't have a case to stand on. You seem to have a good case if you can build up the evidence. Politely ask if your friend is willing to testify as to the hatred his dad has for you; he doesn't need to testify that your dad asked his officers to pull you over- just build up the character of his father as a guy who will hold grudged and might abuse his power... Coomer, don't take **** from anyone- consult legal advice; just dont tell your mom |

Well, i cant really say anything about the celi, I havnt been pulled over once, neather in my bimmer, or explorer (except for doing doughnuts in the snow) but My old dodge daytona, white with blue racing strips.. I got pulled over atleast 2-3 times a month.. for stupid stuff.. too.. Like a tiny swerve or just like changeing lanes, while not being in a lane for more then a min, I was like thats not a rule.. But I would def say its the color.. An I think gun-metel would be nice, or like BMW blue Im crazy about that.

I'm fixing to get my car painted. I'm keeping mine red, but if your going after a silver. House of Kolor's Shimrin Pearls are nice. The Platinum Pearl would be an awesome color. I really would love to the black pearls, Midnite Blue pearl is totally my style.
