a hatch is a hatchback, like the back of an SUV, and a coupe just has a trunk, like most cars ... does that answer your question?

coupes are better, in the sense that they are stiffer and lighter. on the otherhand hatchbacks are good because of luggage capacity and sound clarity. pick your poison.

hatchs have all the aftermarket support, coupes have almost none at all.

Coupes just don't have aftermarket support in rear bumpers, and not as much support as far as spoilers go, but as far as performance parts and suspension parts go, the coupes have just as much support because all of those parts will fit either model. Even though I have a coupe, I definitely like hatchbacks a lot more. I love my car, but I'd trade my car for a stock hatchback in a second.
Edit: Not all suspension parts will fit a coupe. A rear strut bar won't, but there's no need for it, because there's lots of metal under the rear deck and behind the back seats that connects the two strut towers. -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...

Coupe
Pros: I enjoy my coupe. My friend has a 97 Eclipse hatchback, and I don't know if its the same with the 6th gens but the back seat people pretty much have to tilt their heads if their tall. Cons: not quite as sleek loooking, and as some people say some suspension parts won't work. Hatchback: Pros: Sweeter tailights, easier room for system modifications and sound quality. Cons: Uh...oh yea, no room in the back seat. Maybe windshield wiper, if it breaks. |

IMO the coupes look funny, I love the hatchbacks. Maybe Im a little biassed but I love them. There is nothing that I would trade for my hatch.
