The only aftermarket intake for the BEAMs I've seen in real life was this HKS setup I spied on an SSIII last year, but it's not really a full kit. Even though the stock inlet pipe coming from the fender is still there, I'd think this would suffer from a lot of heatsoak.

However K&N have an induction kit for the 2.0L 6th Gen Celica (94-99): click here The pdf instruction sheet on that site has pics of the celica and how to install the kit.

that engine is intake hungry....flow needs to be perfect over the MAF

TRD makes a 'trumpet' of sorts for their scion TC supercharger kit, which is a good thing to get yourself if you are gonna make yourself a cold-air-intake...but yeah, i would put the air inlet far away from that engine compartment.
My BEAMS gets pretty hot, then again i live in the tropics as well, but im thinking of putting the intake somewhere up front, with a good (very large) K&N airfilter...

good example:

that same billzilla guy has something similar he made with a bundle of drinking straws to correct the flow over the MAF

I'll make some pics when i build my own....

quick-edit: rest of the AE86+BEAMS http://www.billzilla.org/AE863SGE.htm scroll down for the intake
