Ok so I'm buying a basic turbo setup from another person on here and I was wondering, due to the fact that with this purchase im only recieving a Turbo with internal wastegate, Manifold, MAP box, oil lines, FMU, BOV, and downpipe I know that I can't just bolt this thing on and get it to work (Note, there is not intercooler but does come with piping to the intake manifold), my plans as of now are to:
Buy a SAFC, OBX Fuel Rail, Venom Injectors and possibly fuel-pump.
Now because the 6gc has a higher compression pistions and I know its bad to run boost on high compression, shoild i 100% swap the pistons out with lower compression ones or is there a way to run LOW boost with all the fuel management there. I plan on buying the intercooler and turbo timer and boost controller too but after the fuel management, but i need input, this is my first boosted car and no i dont mean stolen tongue.gif lol. Thanks

Skip the Venom injectors and get some RC Engineering 550cc injectors.

9.5:1 isnt necessarily high for compression. You'd be safer to run an intercooler though. If you wanted non intercooled 5psi you should be ok. Any more boost that that i'd recommend a intercooler.

On that note has anyone here tried stacking Headgaskets? On VW's we can get away with up to 3 HG's stacked to lower compression and they hold to almost 20 psi!

well, I dont know much about the st motor but I would say you seem to have a good grasp at your your gana do. depending on how much boost you wana run the stock internals should do just fine (for low boost like 5-8 psi) I would not push it much more. (that would probibly give you like 160-170hp I think) If your upgrading your injectors (almost needed for the turbo) and fuel rail etc your probibly much better off doing the piston swap because you'll get more out for the other things and you can push it more.

ok i just wanted to know if what i was planning would be legit, and thanks for the tip on the injectors Fox-n-it2, and yes i plan on intercooling eventually, I was just curious as to what would be a good plan to spare my car from utter destruction. And if someone has any info on the stacking headgasket thing let me know. I will only run 5-7psi at the max, now what guages are a MUST to install?

Also , is a 2.25-2.5" exhaust the way to go or should i seek larger, say 3", I would think 3" would be a little much but hell, im no expert.....does anyone like greddy or someone make a 2.5" exhaust/ hi flow cat that I could get modified for my turbo app.

technicly the bigger then better (if turbo'ed) but if your pushing under 10 (ish) psi it probilby wont make much diff, I would say 2.5 would be best.

stacking Headgaskets

Sounds like a very bad idea to me, thats not what there for, and would make it weaker. (not in hp but in its ability to hold)

QUOTE

well no guage is a MUST but your probilby be able to avoid "utter distruction" with a boost (to make sure your not pushing to much) oil temp (see if you turbo is cooking your motor) and oil presure (if you leaking oil, or have to much in) all of witch can help you catch something befor it happens. (you gata remember that adding a turbo not only make the motor have a bigger demand for better oil, because of the added hp, but that the turbo itself takes oil from the pan to it, meaning you'll probilby need more then normal and better then normal oil for the best performance.

first of all, there is no Low compression pistons for 7A. Only custom made ones. There was rummors that 4AGZE pistons will lower your compression.. - they will not, actually they will rise your CR from 9.5 till 10.8... The way to lower your compression on stock engine would be using some metal head gasket in 1 mm thickness (check for 4AGE head gasket, cuz the blocks of 4A nad 7A practicly the same).

Instead of S-AFC, i recomend Emanage, cuz of its ability to control Ignition, and to control injectors. Price may be a little higher, but the wiring for injectors and ignition you can make by your self (PM me on this if you like more info)

And dont go without intercooler, you will be at high risk, cuz of bigger chance of knocking, and melting you pistons.... PM nik, he has his IC with piping for sale..

biggrin.gif So someone want to turbo the 7afe cool i agree with doggy run a intercooler and make sure your fuel system has been beef up alittle.I did find one site that sells the 7afe piston in low comp 8.5:1 i posted the site a few times on here http://www.importperformanceparts.net/imports/pek-geo.html.
Metal is good or a copper head gasket only one or two places make them for 7afe or you can get one custom made.Or just try and find a 4age which will probably be easier.

i would go greddy e-manager better tuning capability as for the intercooler piping i have one guy on here that wants it but if he falls through its all yours if you want to buy the set up. Doggy is getting Carbon Fiber piping that he is making himself that will be hott when its done.

I think doggy is just making a set for himself (not sure) I'm selling mine for $320 shipped the e-manager comes with a harness that you or someone need to splice into you ecu you can get a diagram from toyota. on the fuel side get a pump alot of us go with the supra 255 lph and fmu for safty then run 5 psi for a month or so and see how the cars acts

side note how many miles on the car have you gotten a comp test or a leak down
and you need to change to syntech oil

no.

cuz if you want to make it all clear and good, you have to use different epoxyd, and with CF you CANT make any mistake cuz all mistakes will be visible.
