QUOTE(sphinx @ Feb 16, 2005 - 1:29 PM) QUOTE(lagos @ Feb 14, 2005 - 6:53 PM) i think i would probably smoke most of those on the list. only real threat i see is if the eclipse was turbo, or the neon an str4 It's ok if the eclipse is turbo, you can still beat him. The only thing you have to worry about is if it's AWD. If it is, then it will be close, if you actually run a full 1/4 mile. If it's 1/8 mile, then you lost. As for the SRT4, you have no problems. I take them out all the time. For some reason i think the srt4 might stomp the US celicas but through a 3s powered bad boy in there and its all over for the neon! |

Who would come out on top? can u say CELICA? Which year GT4? I`ve gone up against Integra`s and Civic type-R`s and there was no challenge they are easy kills, never been against a 5.0 Stang, would be interesting though. Accord type-R, same result although they are a bit more of a challenge once they get going, they pick up past about 60mph pretty well. Alot depends on the situation, weather and driver ability, if your talking about a straight line "drag" then the GT4 has a destinct advantage being 4 wheel drive (good launch), which also gives it the edge around the track over the 2wd counterparts as you can get the power down out of the corners alot quicker without fear of understeer, or oversteer in the case of the Mustang. Cars that offer more of a threat to the GT4 Audi S4 quatro Bmw M3`s Boxters Audi TT Evo`s Impreza sti Not a bad list for a car that is after all "Old" If Toyota had kept the GT4 model going with todays technology I`m sure the list would be even bigger. If its a pre 94 GT4 the engines can soon be fettled with to produce the same power as the post 94 GT4 after all it is basically the same engine. Think I`ve dronned on long enough regurgitating info that you probably all know already anyway, Wish me luck as I have a job interview to go to... |

I put mustang (GT maybe) because I wanted a challance, something to work for, not a free give away like a stock or riced civic/integra I feel that if I can take a mustang GT then I've got a pretty good car. (would need a trubo etc to do it but I'll have one in a wile)
short story: I was just up against a civic (2d coupe, riced) on the free way, normaly I dont race at all, but felt inclined since it was a wide open straght road just me the civic, and a guy I work with behind me in a firebird (97 I think, v6 auto) anyway the civic took off, and could hardly get lined up with me going 75ish, when he got close to even I diched him, In less then 10 sec they were both about 50-75 feet back, I though they did not try. but latter my co-worker at work said that the civic had gunned it just to get lined up and gave up shorty after I pulled away, he also said that he was struggling to keep up after I took off. witch was pretty cool. all in all I took a 97ish civic and 97ish firebird without putting up a sweat, so my next target is a Mustang GT and that one is not gana give it to me without a fight. -------------------- |

Seriously now... most of the replies to this topic are realtively newbish people who are throwing out guesses based on nothing. Maybe one or two of you know what you're talking about... but the rest of you who are racing Mustang GTs and stuff... c'mon... Just race and find out if you're dying to know. Why ask what someone else thinks is gonna happen when the answers are in plain numbers? Bench racing = -------------------- "It's ok to be naked girl... I'm an artist!"

agreed. you know what your car is capable of so just go out and see what it can do.

the only challenge I have run into is my friends heavily modded WRX (he can smoke an STi) tho he is no match once we are on the highway or on a twisty road.
