I'll be swapping my injectors pretty soon, so been following up on some research.
Question is: 'Can I get to my injectors without removing the valve cover or intake?' Eventhough I can see the injector wires it doesn't seem like I could, since there isn't a whole lot of room. BOTH the 'Haynes Manual (Celica)' and the BGB (MR2) indicate that the rail can be lifted behind everything. The only source I've found that states the valve cover needs to be removed is: http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=3421&hl= ...and I know Bryan knows his stuff This post has been edited by erics1one: Feb 28, 2005 - 12:48 PM -------------------- ![]() |

you dont have to take of valve cover, but you may need to move around the harness and what not.

Maybe after removing the strut bar and throttle I'll see a bit more. But this weekend I had a mirror down in there and wasn't feeling to hot about the whole situation.

i never had to remove mine either it was a pain but you just gotta have patience and lil hands to squeeze into those tights places. i shoulda took a pic of my hand n arm after i did the injectors they were all scratched up but eghh. lil tip. disconnect the fuel line from the fuel filter that way you can pull the whole rail out and clean it up. make sure you put new o rings on the injectors.

yea...you dont "NEED" to remove it, but it will make the job easier..just drop a couple clean rags over the cams to make sure nothing falls in there..

Good luck trying w/o removing. It can be done but the 2 bolts you need to unscrew to remove the rail will be a huge PITA if you leave the valve cover there. Taking the valve cover off is simple, 4 big nuts and a thump of the rubber mallet and its off.

After rebuilding my friends 5s we had trouble with the O rings sealing. It is possible to do it with the intake and valve cover on you just got to be patient.

Well its done.
Didn't have to remove the valve cover. The biggest thing that was in the way was the wiring harness. If that thing wasn't there it would have been a one hour job. But shes running without leaks. Yay! ![]() -------------------- ![]() |
