i am just starting to do some engine work to my 96 celica but have a problem, i dont exactly know what it is. The chassis code is at200, which if i understand correctly is the ST w/ the 1.8. although on the emisions sticker under the hood the engine is the 5s. unlike all the other celicas i see, mine neither has the gt or st badge on it, so how exactly do i know what im working with here. and im sorry if the answer is really eay but i dont know much so any help is appreciated

look at the engine and you'll know??? the ST have a 7afe engine while the GT have a 5sfe engine. the 5sfe has a label that says 2200 on it. something like this

I had the same prob when I first had my celica..i hate to say this, but your car might have been in an accident before you bought it and then jus picked up a hood from a gt at a junk yard and put it on..check for any over over spray in the wheel wells and on the bumper beam it self
