 Plexi Glass and Plastic, Best way to cut it? |

I'm making custome speaker brackets for my door's 6.5" premier speakers. I'm planning on buying plastic sheets(lexan-plexiglass type of acrylic plastic). I wanted to know the best way to cut this a.s.a.p. so I could go to the hardware store and buy it so I can start cutting.

i've used a ban saw, and a dremel, only problem i had was when the speed of the blade gets hi it melts the plexi and it will dry and catch the blade. so be careful wear eye protection and gloves.

use a jigsaw .. buy thick blades, the wood joints

but make sure u keep the blade straight and go very slow or it will break... and be careful that sh!t gets hot.. my plexy is 1 " thick

yeah, be VERY careful using jigsaw's... plenty of protection, i have 2 friends w/out fingers for this reason (doing car mods) but, dont be scared of them, just be cautious. But Band-saw's are good for the fine-tuning, so are rotary (dremel) tools. So you could cut out big, then fine-tune it with a rotary tool.

Honestly I've always used a table saw with a blade for cutting plastic. It can be any blade as long as it has small teeth very close together. If you need rounded corners or something you could trim it up with a jigsaw or dremel afterwards. The blade does melt the plastic a bit and you end up with little strings of plastic everywhere but I always just made my measurements a tiny bit (like 1mm) larger.

I once used a chain saw while my brother was holding the plastic. I cut off his wrist. He now has a hook like a pirate.
