I was wondering if anyone out there has a 7AFE with VVT-i or VVTL-i. I figure the Celi have so much horsepower with these technologies and I wanted to add these to the engine if it's possible. How would this be done and how much would it cost? Would I just switch to an engine that has VVT-i or VVTL-i. What parts from the BEAMS VVT-i 3SGE or from the VVT 4AGE would I need or would it just come out cheaper to swap in a 4A-GZE? I REALLY wanted to keep the 7AFE but if it'll be cheaper than I'll go with the 4A-GZE.

i dont think anyone has 7afe out there with vvt

it would be cheaper to do a 4age head swap with tvis and ecu so you can control it
but even then your only going to get about 130whp but its alot of work and you need alot of parts off the 4age try ebay for a motor and wiring harness with ecu

its been said before but its cheap to turbo and only boost like 5 psi
my set up got 127whp and 162 trq at 4.5psi see the 7AFTE dyno thread for the dyno sheet.
On 5-6 psi you will get more power than any other mod you can do to the 7afe for that price.

i dont think you can put vvtli on a 7afe. Simply because vvtli is a performance system, they woudl never put it on a f series head since it was designed for economy.

If you want the vvt, go with the 4age. Its sexy. I dont know why you would really want to keep the 7a unless you want to boost or keep NA for mpg and reliability.

With enough money, anything is possible, but it makes no sense to put VVT, VVT-i, or VVTL-i on a 7A-FE. You could have VVT on a 7A-GE though...just use a 20V head.

in short to get it you need to swap heads with a 4age silver, black, red, blue, etc

it would be useless to put it on a "F" head

This is the only way...

Only one group of mechanics could put VVT or VVTI or VTEC on a 7a head...

Honestly guys... do some research. I think www.billzilla.org is a great starting point.

1.8L VVT-i is from the latest toyota corolla / celica, engine model is 1ZZ-FE. variable valve timing engine on intake valve.
1.8L VVTL-i is from corolla / celica as well, engine model is 2ZZ-GE. variable valve timing and lifting technology (intake valve only...).

3S-GE BEAM Dual VVT-i is 2.0L engine only on toyota Altezza. RWD! this is what i'm cracking head for the possibility to get it swap into my celica which is same spec with yours.

why u wanna put the a VVT-i / VVTL-i engine head to your 7A? you can get the front clip of 2000 celica which come with 2ZZ-GE engine and 6 speeds manual gear box. just swap over it all. but your need to customize the engine mountings (the rubbers).
