Hi all

I'm having a problem and wondered if any of you would be able to give me an idea of what it could be.
when accelerating I get a distinct clunking noise from the right front of the car. I have jacked it up and when facing the wheel if you put your right hand at 3 O'clock and push towards the back of the car the whole assembly moves about 3mm toward the back of the car. no other movement is present. I'm guessing it might be the ball joints? but am not that mechanicaly minded. Any ideas would be gratefully received.
It's easter and everything is booked solid so I can't get it into the shop.
I'm supposed to be going away but am wondering wether it would be safe to do so.

Cheers

Fred

Happy Easter to you all

It sounds like the hub and balls joints to me. That's what happened on my boyfriend's 90 Celica and he had to replace the entire hub.

It could be what CeliBria said, but it sounds like it may be the tie rod ends, inner or outer or both, most likely the outer, may have gone bad. you need to take it to a shop and have them check it out, especially if you are still learning what to do.
if you do take it to a shop, have them show you what is bad, there are some shops that still like to rip people off frown.gif
