Hello All,

Does any one know of a good diagnostic tool to tell if anything is wrong with a Celica engine? My wife’s Acura’s engine check light came on and I found this tool:

http://216.65.58.60/Merchant2/merchant.mvc...egory_Code=CODE

It says it will work on any car 96 and newer (I have a 99).

The port in the picture doesn’t seem to match the diagnostic port on my engine and I am not going to buy it unless we can use it on both cars. Does any one know if it will work on the Celica? I could not find the OBT II certified stamp on any of my Celica’s tags. Does any one know of a tool that can diagnose a Celica?

Thanks!!!

Autozone sells them for $60, I think. It's the right port for an OBD-II port, are you checking the dash or under the hood.

I was checking the port under the hood. Is there one under the dash?

Thanks, I’ll get the one at AutoZone.

the port should be right above your gas pedal

Yeah the free thing works, it's handy to have one but you really don't require it unless the light comes on but the vehicle wont start. You can also use it on a number of vehicles since it's only OBD-II specific. All OBD-II vehicles have a port under the dash, I think it's next to the fuse cover.

Lagos was right it's attached to the dash in front of the gas pedal.

Thanks! I took it to autozone and they plugged their thing in and it said “EGR valve has insufficient flow.” The guy there had no idea what it meant. I looked it up and its the valve that’s lets exhaust back into the intake manifold as needed. I took the valve off and it was stuck shut with carbon, I opened it and it opens and closes now with the vacuum. The engine check light is still on. Does it go off automatically or does it need to be reset after the repair is made?

Yay! It worked. The light has not come back on, so just cleanign the carbon out of the valve fixed it.
