Anyone know when we are going to see a new generation Celica? The 6th gen were made from 94-99 (6 years) so we should get a new generation next year or so (since 00-05 is another 6 years). Or maybe not.. Would be fun though Lets just hope they don't keep that ****ty 7th gen rear end look because that sucks. Lets have the 6th gen look back.

Unfortunately, CoSo is right. The Celica will be gone, and if I remember right, the Scion tC basically took it's place. But, this will make our cars even more rare than they already are.

toyota is not discontinuing the MR2, but are going in a different direction and as I believe are going to try to make a more "sporty" hybrid car.

That's what I thought originally, the Mid engine, Rear wheel drive, 2 seater. I looked it up and found it means Midship Runabout 2.

Illyont,
these guys don't realize you are from norway, most of this board in from North America. The celica is toast in '06 in North America only. MR2 in USA as well, it never came to Canada. The celica will still be offered in the rest of the world - unless toyota changes their mind on that too. As far as the 8th gen - some speculation, little information on it. try carspyshots.net but I don't recall any reputable info. Your are right, it is well overdue: 99, 00, 01, 02, 03, 04, 05 that is 7 years with the same model (for japan). 6th gen was 93, 94, 95, 96, 97, 98. |

94+ 93=last year of all-trac(and other 5th gens) unless you are talking about new release cars.

ie. a facelift. Last time I was at a Toyota Dealership (in the UK), the guy said that Toyota were discontinuing the Celica and MR2 and making a hybrid of them costing in the region of £40'000 (around $80'000?) I'm guessing he may have got some wrong info.... it'd be too hard to sell a hybrid of the two at that price when Celica's and MR2's are so much more affordable and appealable to a mass-market. Still, I guess it's just a case of waiting for Toyota to announce the fate of the Celica. -------------------- |
