Ok, i went to town tonight.
i stopped at a gas station so my girl could get some decals. She got back in and when i took off my radio, amp and subs shut off, then kicked back on a couple seconds later. i noticed my battery light was on. none of my other lights dimmed or shut off. it did this everytime i stopped and started to take off. i got home and shut off the car and decided to start it back up to see if it would be dead. It started, but my radio, amp, subs, marker lights and interior lights wouldn't work. my headlights worked but the others didn't. the battery is NEW. whats going on? -------------------- Jared Harwell

Could be the alternator. I had the same kind of problem a couple weeks ago, and my alternator was bad. If you can make it to a Checker or an Auto Zone or something like that were they can check alternators then go and get it checked it is usually free. Or if you can't drive your beautiful car that far then pull the alternator then take it in. If the car is running and you disconnect the battery and the car dies then your alternator is bad, at least that is what I have heard.

i think i figured it out.
i checked my fuses this morning and ssaw a fuse labled "ALT 100" in the engine bay. it looked blown so i tried to pull it and broke it. i can't get the damn thing out now. i touched the 2 prongs together and the car started fine and all my lights worked. -------------------- Jared Harwell

yes, I was going to say blown fuse for the lights (especially since your headlights worked).
as for the stereo, u may want to see how picky your amplifier is about voltage. that causes them to shut off or not play for a while, then play again... your alternator may be bad as well. If ur alternator is going bad, check the condition of ur battery. ed. |
