i have a 94 celica st at200 can i put the 5sfe into my car ?if so will it drop right in or will modifactions have to be done ?
i am getting this motor for practicly nothing because my friend got into an accident with it but the motor and tranny are ok so i am going to build a box for his system and hook it up and he is going to let me strip his car so i figured if it will drop in and i can get it for free sure why not lol i am gonna rebuild the motor first tho and do all new pistons, rods, cams, pulleys, gaskets, port and polish heads any thing i can possibly do lol |

If the 5S-FE isnt from a 6GC, then you will need to pick up motor mounts, because the ones in your ST are different than the GT (5S-FE). Other than that yes it will directly fit in because GTs have 5S-FEs. Trannys different from ST to GT also so swap that as well.

You'll basically need a GT clip. A 5SFE swap in an ST has been talked about before and if you plan on keeping the 5SFE stock it's not worth it, now build it up to about 200 or 300 horses it's worth the effort.

k what do u mean by gt clip ? i did plan on workin the motor before i put it in because i kno just a stock 2.2 5sfe isnt really worth it but i figured i would get a better horse power gain out of some of the parts if i went to the 2.2 plaus they also make a lil more parts for that than they do for my 1.8 and how do i move the motor mounts do they have to be welded or what ?

why don't you chill man. they are just trying to help you. truth is swapping a 5sfe is almost as difficult as a 3sgte. the 3sgte is worth it because it has 200+ hp and loads of potential, the 5sfe does not. I would also advise you work from a front clip, as in the full front end of a 5sfe powered car, that way you won't have to source loads of extra $$$ parts. good luck with whatever you decide. and just so you know the 7afe actually has more aftermarket parts available to it than the 5sfe ..

The 7afe can use the same pistons as a 4ag. Bam, that's a hell of a lot of equipment right there. The 7a also has a huge corolla following thus there are all kinds of head gaskets that are usable from HKS and the like. The 7a also uses the same studs on the block as a 4a, thus there are high performance stud kits that fit. there is also an adjustable cam gear for the 7a. Pauter also makes 7a Rods.
If you do a 4ag head swap (which isn't THAT difficult) you have as many options as a B18 owner. The 5s... better get a 3s turbo and downpipe and be happy. |
