dude navy pt is pretty light. we used to pass them and the airforce all the time. i envied them sometimes.

Yes, Navy PT is VERY light. Luckily, though, I'm not one of those people who has to rely on organized PT (that's Physical Training for all the non-military peeps out there) to stay in shape. For whatever reason I tend to be perpetually in-shape no matter what I do... biggrin.gif
My advice to anyone wanting to get in better shape is this:
1) Limit sugar intake. Diet sodas (Sprite Zero, Coca-Cola Zero, etc.), unsweetened tea, and sugar substitutes are your friends.
2) Limit fat intake. Deep-fried foods (to include french fries) are NOT your friends. Jared may be annoying, but Subway IS the Mecca of delicious, healthy fast-food.
3) If you're going to use a supplement (i.e. Trimspa, Hydroxy Cut), then use it in moderation. Those things can be dangerous if abused. They are a SUPPLEMENT to your regular diet, not a replacement.
4) Warming-up and stretching are paramount, and will be very beneficial down the road. If you neglect this part of your work-out, you will suffer in the long run (just ask my lower back).
5) As someone stated earlier, find an activity that you enjoy. Basketball is aerobically rewarding, as is any contact sport. Mat wrestling, to this day, remains the best way to enhance endurance and stamina, in my book. Boxing is a great way to stay in shape AND to release stress.
6) Hydrate. Drink lots of water, even when you're not thirsty. If you wait until you get thirsty to drink water, then you're too late because you're already dehydrated. Those Aquafina commercials are correct when they say that drinking water is the best thing you can do for your body.
7) Weight lifitng can be beneficial or detrimental, depending on your goals. If you want to lose weight or tone up, then less weight and more reps is the road for you. If you're trying to build muscle and mass, then MORE weight and less reps is better. Weight lifting is good, but it can also have an adverse effect on your joints and bones if done improperly, or too often.

That's my advice. I'm sorry if it was long-winded or if it was stuff that ya'll already knew.

No, what I meant was that those "Zero" sodas are GOOD for your diet!! 0 calories, 0 caffeine, & 0 carbs (sugar is a form of carbohydrate). These are MUCH better than the regular sodas which can have anywhere from 28-40 grams of sugar per serving. Consuming 40 grams of sugar in one sitting is bad business...

If you're refering to the claims of the link between aspartame and cancer, then I ask: What HASN'T been linked to cancer? I think that there are much more dangerous things that you can do to your body than aspartame...

Now that's a good girl wink.gif Just don't overdo it.
Water does indeed do wonders if you try to lose weight, my dad lost 35 lbs by drinking water, instead of coffee and softdrinks.

Indeed, I know from experience that cancer just happens. The only advice I would have is not to smoke 'cause that's just bad in so many ways...

Let my dazzle you with my weight, a magic 97 lbs at 5'7".
My workout? Eating what I can, when I can and sitting on my bum... I'm a very bad example, I know, and that does indeed say 97 lbs, no typo.

Hey dont forget to add good eating habits as part of your program. Otherwise if you eat crappy foods or eat too late at night, it will make your workouts useless.

Ive been told to eat more meals in small portions a day. I did and it worked pretty well for me. I ate breakfast, midmorning snack (something a protien bar) , lunch, mid afternoon snack and an early dinner.

I also stopped eating fast foods. SOOOO Hard though.... tongue.gif
