94 Celica i own has a nice smooth turning radio knob. The 1997 GT I own has a point turn knob where it kinda clicks to positions.
I'd like to change them out and wanted to know if there would be connection issues to the radios or anything I should watch out for. |

I think there should only be a issue if you have a factory amplified system or not, I know between my 86 GT and my 96 ST they change right over.

Cool, know any good guides? I just went out and took off some panels and it looks like you have to take the entire dashboard apart to get to it when you should only need to take off a panel. Grr!

Phew just found out the following.
Take off Shift Konb. Pull that panel up (its just clipped in) Unhooked power wire from Cig ligter(power mirrors if your box is there) right under that there is 2 screwes, unscrew them Then the Whole panel holding the center vents, and surrounding the deck and climate control, will come off with motivation, its just held on by metal tabs. then there are 4 screws hold your deck in. This is GREAT except one minor issue. The 1997 celica radio tape deck has anti theft and the connections are different on the back. Damn u toyota. Well it just gives me another reason to upgrade the stereo I have . |

i don't see why not. it should mount fine in my opinion. but making it work with the same wire harness is another story. take note whether you have the 4 speaker system, 6-speaker package or 8-speaker system. i have the 8 speaker package in mine and there are 2 factory amplifiers, one beneath the driver seat and one behind the center dash bezel (the stereo plastic panel) behind the cigarette lighter. i'm not sure if the 6 speaker has at least one amp but i do now the 4-speaker system doesn't have any.
now, im not too sure if they use the same factory wiring harness between the different speaker system setups but i would highly doubt it. anybody want to confirm that info? -------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

the 94 radio is different than the 95+ but the harness should be plug and play. Give it a try and let us know.
BTW, additional info - all GTs have at least one stock amp -------------------- |
