I have had a check engine light on for about a week now but haven't checked it yet. Last night I was driving my car and it was fine. Today I was driving my car and it seems like it has more power it just won't rev past 5000k. When it does make it to 5000K it sounds REAL loud and the sound is coming from my short ram intake. After holding it at 5000k for a few seconds then it bogs down and starts dropping. I was too afraid to push it any harder so I pulled it over and now I need some help from you guys.....

It wont go above 5400 RPM even in neutral. When i take it to 5400K it sounds like it is absolutely wide open. It wont accelerate past 5400k but it will actually start to decelerate (while i have the pedal floored!)

Jees, I never seen anything like this before help me out guys

Well thanks for the help guys I guess it's off to the Toyota Stealership.

I thought us yota monsters were supposed to stick together?
Anyway I guess I'm going to try to figure it out myself.

Only thing about it is the MAP sensor.... I unplugged it and it was able to rev up to redline but not without knocking. I guess I'll go to the junk yard and look for something to replace it with. Doesn't seem like I can find much help here.

Hey man, I'm here. I'll help you if I know how, but I have no clue what your car's problem is. I've been wating for someone to tell you and you to fix it so I know and can share my new found knowledge with others. Don't mistake ignorance for abandonment.

It should for a few seconds or at least feel like it if the fuel cutoff is engaging.

yeah but still my redline is 6000k and it used to rev that high. Now it doesn't. I disconnected the Vacuum sensor relay and gave it gas to keep it from boggin off... i revved it and it did go to 6000k but it was useing WAY too much fuel. I'm sure all of this has to to with the fuel injection but I dont know exactly what.... HELP ME OUT GUYS confused.gif

Where are you located? I have a diag computer I could hook up if you were in KC area, but a 94 should be OBD-II which gives the outside air temp sensor as the problem for code 71

EDIT: correction, 1994 should be OBD-I , see the post about codes, 71 has to do with EGR

So you think it's my EGR system?

I'm looking at a few things that might be affecting this:
fuel pump
fuel filter
MAP sensor

ORRRR could EGR just be hooked up wrong (ex. wrong vac lines routed) because I think my cousin was messin with my manifold the other day.
