just wondering how the 7A-FE would handle a 50 shot or so.

Well, I just wanted to correct you in a helpful manner. I personally don't have it, but I'd like to give you some information. NOS (Nitrous Oxide Systems) is just a single brand of Nitrous kits. There are many other systems, such as Venom, ZEX, and Nitrous Express. So, if you say NOS you might send the signal that you only want people who have that kit in their car, and someone that has a 50 shot of nitrous from a ZEX kit might not reply.
Also, if I were you, I would think that a 50 shot in a 7A-FE would be ok, but only once or twice, not very often. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'd definitely look into it thoroughly before attempting it. This post has been edited by Inferno: May 24, 2003 - 7:44 PM |

...oh man!
sorry for my incorrect term of Nitrous Oxide. forgive me for thinking that saying the word "nos" everyone would know what i was talking about. my bad.. i guess. now, back to the subject, i was thinking of getting a Nitrous Express Kit for my ST but only squeezing a 50 shot. no more and no less. how would the engine hold up to this. what kind of ignition tuning would i have to do? the 7A-FE is so weak i now must resort to NO2 |

Not to be an ass about things, but NOS is a brand as well as the abbreviated term for Nitrous Oxide. So asking about NOS, wouldn't drive away people who have a ZEX kit.
Anyways, if you don't have the money to buy a new motor, don't even attempt NOS. You'll blow your motor after a shot or 2. And if your motor is that slow, you'll wanna use NOS more often then not. |

Well, a little off your question, but I have a question for you. How much money are you willing to spend overall? Because, even though you can get many squeezes out of a kit...in the long run, it won't really help you that much at all. Sure, you could say you beat the guy because you have Nitrous. But, you could engine swap and say you beat the guy on all motor.
By the way, if NOS is an abbreviated term for Nitrous Oxide..then why doesn't Venom have a Venom NOS kit? I'm pretty sure they have a Venom Nitrous Kit. What would the S stand for if not being the brand of Nitrous Oxide? This post has been edited by Inferno: May 24, 2003 - 8:10 PM |

I know I did, I was trying to help you though. Some people get iffy or whatnot and get mad when people use the wrong terms.

go ahead and get a 50 shot
but get a compression test and make sure your engine is in good shape before youy start to beat the **** out of it you can even go for a 75 shot if you want. just make sure you dont lean out. -------------------- 1994 Celica GT4 WRC Edition

what is stock compression on the 7A-FE anyway? and even if my motor is in good to even great shape, a 50 shot is still concidered "beating the $hIt out of it"? then what about a 40 shot or a 30 shot? i don't even know if those are noticable gains once below 50.

From what I've always read, a 50 shot isn't going to kill your engine at all. Just make sure you don't spray from like, San Fran to Chicago or something.
Nos is getting to be the term for N20, like Band-aid for Medical Adhesive or Kleenex for tissue. But show your smarts, say N20. (or it might be n02 I always forget) |

dude, i had a 90 shot on my 7afe with 150,000 miles on it and it was fine. just make sure you retard your timing before you go out to race.

ya it would be NO2 ...nitrogen has an oxidation number of +4, meaning it will take two oxygens (with an oxidation number of 2-) to create a stable molecule........................ god i hate chemisty...im sorry i just did that you guys

i hate it too, i just took the AP Chem exam two weeks ago and it sucked really bad. the CR on the 7afe engine is 9.5:1. one of the many reasons why the engine lacks power -------------------- 1994 Celica GT4 WRC Edition
