Just curious as to what you guys would recommend... I have a 95 ST with 16"Sportline Racing Brushed Aluminum Rims and Kuhmo Ecsta Supra 205/50 16 tires on it. My stock suspension with 90000 miles on it is starting to ride and handle like ass and i'm looking into doing it totally over. Any recommendations on a full suspension kit for the car? Like, which gas sgocks and what springs. I want the car to come down an inch and a half, MAYBE 2 (no tires in the wheel wells) and I'm not having much luck in finding a suspension for it. I'm looking to spend like 500, maybe 600 on it and it will be installed myself. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Well if you are concerned with ride quality you probably want to stick with springs. The max drop is about 1.75" with intrax springs and the ride is supposed to be pretty good with those. As for shocks, I would recommend the Konis but they are probably a bit out of your price range. Your other choice is OEM KYB replacements, which are basically the same as your stock ones.
Also since you are in the tri-state area check out the post for the North East meet in general discussion. We're looking at 15-20 cars attending and it should be a lot of fun. |

yeah, the OEM KYBs are gas. they also make an adjustable set called the AGXs which I believe also fit our cars. I think these are relatively similar to the OEM style so I wouldn't expect too much from them. if you intend to drive in auto-x or just want superior handling the Konis are definetly worth their ~$600 price tag. I know I'm very happy with mine.

As far as I know, our only choice for KYB's are the GR-2's. The AGX won't fit.

yup the AGx's will not fit....if your looking to spend about 500..i'd reccomend the eibach sportlines (1.5) springs and the kyb gr2's.
they are a very good combination. i have them, perfect drop for me, great handeling, i like em... you can see the drop in my sig below. if you do shocks & struts (shock inserts in front, the whole strut assyw/ shock in rear) i sugesst also getting new boots, a couple of mine were starting to tear.. good luck!! -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

Sounds good! I'm gonna go with the eibach and KYB's. I'm prob gonna have my boys put them on in about a month or so... I just bought the rims and tires and blew a $100 headlight so I'm a little short on funds right now!!
Thanks for the advice |

The front shocks have catridges for the shocks. There's a cap that unscrews and you just take the shock out. Apparently there are some, however, that can't be replaced. Somebody on this board had this prob with his 98 Convert.
6JenCelica: Since you have a 95, be sure to purchase some washers to go on the rear strut shafts. I just spent a whole month diagnosing a nasty knocking noise with the sportline's and the KYB's and it was a washer problem. Apparently (according to Charlie) toyota put washers on the rear strut shafts in 96 and above. Since we have no washers, it makes a clanking noise. If you don't put them in, you'll see what I mean. |
