 17 inch rims... stock suspension, what tire size would you go with? |

Did some searching and couldn't find the answer to my question, so...
I am looking at this wheel and tire package for my 94 gt.. http://www.rim1.com/Items/17%20mr7%20GUNME...17%20toyo%20fz4? Would the 17's with the 205-40-17 tires work fit on my car? Once again, stock suspension... no lowering.. nothin. Also.. if they do fit, would I ever be able to lower my car with them, and how much? Sorry if my questions seem stupid  Thanks for any input!

Well i have 18's with 225/35/R18 tires. I'm lowering it 2' this spring. you should be able to lower it. Depends on how low pro your tires are. If in the future you want to lower it and you can't cause your tires profile is to big then just go a little lower pro to be able to lower it..

YEA..it works...i have 205/40zr-17s when i didnt lowered my car..BUT steering's lil rough....

Thanks guys.. Now I have the option between the 205 40 17s and the 205 45 17s...
Which would you go with?

i would go 45 if your not going to lower it. lookswise.... imo...

Thicker sidewalls (higher numbers) will protect the rims from damage due to road imperfections better and will generally give a softer ride than thinner ones. Man, 17s on our cars look too small. =/
The next rims I get are going to be 18s and the tire is going to be thicker than the ones I got. I feel every single crevice, pebble, grass leaf, etc. on the road, LOL! -------------------- Past - 7A-FTE: Will never forget you

I mean come on, some people just get the biggest wheels they can find, blind to performance setbacks and losing driveability. I can't remember what post it was "my 18s aren't big enough, i need 19s or 20s" 1 inch difference isn't gonna look that different, come on guys. But as for switching to 18s, the ride is just gonna get that much rougher. If you get the bigger wheel and stick with the same sidewall then your speedometer will be inaccurate. My speedo isn't off. I have 18's and my ride isn't rough at all. I love my 18's and my 225/35/18's they are very nice for me. And ride very smooth. ( I also but nitrogen in my tires, also makes it just a little smoother) My tire size is the same height as my stock tires as i said before doesn't nock my speedo off at all...

I have 17's with 45 profile tires, 225 wide I think. lowered I really like the look of it, I almost would rather have the 18's but eh, I like what I got just fine.

i got 215-45-zr17
nice ride with stock suspension (imo) but the speedo isnt off so much that you will notice it (like 1-2 mph) and you dont need huge rims if they dont look go on the car (as long as your happy then im sure the cars happy lol) and they have to look good too....thats a gimme --------------------  |
