i wasn't refering to the placement in relation to the surroundings i'm talking about the placement on the log manifold...flow has to be horrible inside that manifold....i'm personally very against logs and external wastegates.....

but your setup looks rather well and wat PSI are you running?

on a 7afte setup, a log manifold will not be a flow restriction. no matter what, the head will always be the flow restriction

SRT4's have made way over 400whp on log style manifolds, and they have a much bigger engine(2.4l vs 1.8l)

toytech

nice little sleeper you got going there. i had a lot of fun turboing my celica back in the day.

i wasn't refering to the log style flow as a manifold...i was more refering to the log + external wastegate...because of the way the manifold reacts with the wastegate...

logs manifolds in general are a cost and performance effective piece thats for sure...i'm just refering to the wastegate portion of things

yep same here! I already have the larger throttle body and the p&p is in the process of being done, as well a 3 angle valve job as well as stiffer springs. then it's onto forged pistons and rods an a overbore of .020. When all is said and done, I should be sitting either right at 300 or a little bit above.

Is that to the ground or crank? what are you going to use for ems

good this allows even flow and will controll boost well

and also this is in regards to my comment about your manifold....
your only venting about 1 cylinder and as you can see in the is exerpt from corky bell....

if you really want a 300whp goal then i would HIGHLY suggest getting a HONDA B16 turbo manifold and swapping motor flanges with it in order to have a smoother better manifold

I hope it will be to the ground, and I am using the emanage to control the motor.

Yep, those are the rods I am looking to get.

as far as the position of the wastegate, it looks crappy in the in the pic, but it is actually in a great position if you saw if up close, you would see what I am talking about.

all i can see is your DEFENITLY venting the two right cylinders much much more then the 2 left cylinders...
which is ok but still shows room for improvement to a superior setup...
i'd really suggest you look into the B16 manifold conversion which has the ideal setup for the external wastegate....esp if you looking to make 300 whp

seeing as the topic starter was sent here just to show the work he has done so far, and not be flamed... repeting your "expert advice" on wastegates to him, and posting diagrams from your ideal setups is not very helpful... and god damn, if he says its a fine wastegate setup and if you saw it up close it would be fine... then drop it, and dont get the last word of your expert advise in. Aside from this, great job on your car toytech, hopefully youll show us more as it progresses!

Good thing seeing somebody having faith on the 7A-FE. I have a Microtech stand-alone EMS back home waiting for me. I am going to do also a p&p, and a custom fuel rail along with a custom throttle body and intake manifold. I am just going to aim for 300 or maybe a little over. I am not intending to make a race engine out of this. How much do you want for the stall t/c? I also have an automatic and I am planning to keep it...just so I can have my hands on a female part instead of a shifter, LOL! =P

dude you need to chill, i'm just having healthy tech discussion with him on part of his setup....there is no flaming....
if you have an issue with this i suggest you dont read smile.gif
i like his setup personally and would love to see a 300whp 7afte considering i am a die hard believer in the capabilities of the 7afte...
and as far as what i'm saying is not "expert adivce" is just mearly my opinion and wat i've learned from researching a 250whp+ 7afte setup..i never said he had to take it wink.gif

and if you wanna argue with the diagrams then go ahead its from a very reputable source...Corky Bell...who wrote a book on boosting and the different systems....

Great job with the turbo! I also have an automatic corolla I am going to install a Garret T3 turbo this summer. I would like to know I what kind of ECU you have for your rolla and I would like to know how much you want for the "high stall level ten stage 3 tq convertor"?
