I'm interested in tinting my windows, but I've never done it myself. The place that tinted the windows on my Prelude did an amazing job and they would be my top choice if I was going to pay a place to do it, but I'm interested in saving the money and doing it myself. Suggestions?

i tried to do it my self, ending giving up after 2 hours b/c of the bubbles and wrinkles. go to a place to have it professionaly and get a lifetime warranty. mine cost 165 w/ the lifetime warranty.

What shop did yours? I'd have them do it again and save you the grief of doing it yourself. Especially in the winter time.

I did my own you just have to be patient with it, I would recomend getting the rear window professionally done though that is the hardest to do.

My Prelude was done by TintMaster, I think it's in Grandview (had just been done on the car before I bought it). It was an amazing tint job, looked good, no bubbles or anything.

i did the sides myself. its really easy. just use a credit card to get the bubbles out. then a heat gun to shrink the ones that keep popping back at the bottom. i got the back professionally done because they dont commercially sell tint that big around me. it was only 55. sides were 20 cuz i did it myself.

TintMaster is the best place around. I'd spend the money and do it there again. I know there used to be one up on the Parkway, but it closed down, so look in the paper. I had mine done when I lived in California, so I can't help you there.

I think after the next couple paychecks I'm going to give Tintmaster a call, I've got one of their cards around here somewhere. In the meantime I'm looking at Tein's, KYB's, TRD shifter, and maybe a Magnaflow exhaust setup. Plus I want to get a project convertible of some sort like a Mustang.

Usually there's a warranty on tint for a short period of time after it's installed just in case it bubbles up or something. I've seen a few tint jobs go bad pretty fast and luckily there was the warranty for them.

if they do a bad job make sure you have them take it off. If they know what they are doing you shouldnt have a problem with the defroster tape commin off at all.

this might be a dumb question, but... has anyone tried using the spray paint used to smoke tail lights to tint their windows? i'm assuming that would turn out bad cuz no one i know has done it.

^^^^^ laugh.gif ^^^^^^ That's hilarious

Well, I've never tinted windows but I sure can remove it! soapy water, a heat gun, and some free time is all it takes.

I thought about geting mine re-tinted but I kinda like the clear look, especially since I'm gonna do stuff to the interior.
