QUOTE(azian_advanced @ Apr 22, 2006 - 4:38 PM) i wanna know whether it's better to put 91 gas than 87 in my 5sfe? i've been doing it ever since i've owned the car... i only put good gas in my celi... but is the 5sfe tuned to run on 87? any difference running on 91? on page 103 of the celica's manual (am i the only one who has one of these?) it says, quote,"OCTANE NUMBER 7A-FE engine - Select Research Octane Number 91 (Octane Rating 87) or higher. 5S-FE engine - Select Research Octane Number 91 (Octane Rating 87) or higher. For improved vehicle performance, the use of premium unleaded gasoline with a Research Octane Number of 96 (Octane Rating 91) or higher is recommended." hope that answers ur question. i used to run regular in the car, and didn't experience any pinging or knocking. then, i decided to fill up on premium to clean the engine a bit. the ONLY difference i noticed on that tank was a big increase in mileage. so i've been using premium ever since. -------------------- |

thanks god I have another celi 1987 GT which I can ride it for a whole week to work and school for 20 bucks. I work 20 miles from my house and my school is passing my house +4 miles so It's not that bad. My 95 St is economic too, but nothing compares to the 87.

You guys are building our cars up to be something they're not. Our teeny weeny engines need nothing more than 87, GT's could use 89. But there is no sense in buying any higher.

ok my fellow 6gcer's, i was watching the news (cnn) and i found out some stuff. right now we are paying 75 bucks a barrel for oil. if iran turns against us and cuts us off we will be paying 500 bucks a barrel. and at 75$ we are paying 3.18 a gallon for regular. think about how gas will be if it goes to 500$ a barrel. so thats like 21$ a gallon for regular gas. and they can charge that because we will buy it. i mean who wants to walk to work. with out gas we go nowhere. therefore we will pay no matter what it cost. so think about that when ur spinning tires or street racing, or just cruising around for no apparent reason. but ne way, tty guys later. cya.
