hi all, i like this site so far, you guys seem pretty cool, i'd like to know what you guys are modding on the 7afe for performance gains. Anything special on the 7afe that responds really well to a certain type of mod? Anything else about the 7afe i should know about? thank you

anything else that you need to know bout the 7a is in this forum. use the search function and it'll show you all the topics and discussions going on there. if you want a good gain on your 7a, you can choose to go turbo. nik have a very good set up before he swap. so read it up. wink.gif and welcome to the forum.

welcome -

you could get a lot of information about that through previous posts if you search using keywords 7afe / turbo

WELCOME

best bang for your buck is a turbo kit
all na mods on a 7afe net very little power
if you like na you can look into swaping heads with a 4age or swaping in a 4age or 3sgte

--------------------
yea your 3sgte is cool but ill stick to my 7agte

^thanks guys, but i plan to keep this 7afe, and for turbo, i might consider it after a couple yrs as i need the car for reliability transportation purposes right now, i heard of people turboing the 7afe and most dont last very long (high mileage?)

hey nik (or anyone) what about cam gears for the 7afe? i've tried using the search button but it doesn't work? i tried typing in cam/camgear/ but no luck, thank u

some quick info...

NA
An easy gain for power with the 7a is a header/intake/exhaust. I have a header and a SR intake and it will give you much smoother acceleration and definatly more responce. Also it doesn't hurt the reliability generally. Also it has a decent power to cost ratio.

FI
turboing will give you more power (obviously) but doing it right will cost about $1500+ and will shorten the life of the motor. The power gain will be fun but the power to cost/durability ratio IMO is not good.

Swaping
any "A" series engine will swap in easily (because of the location of the mounts) and power would be good. 4age, 4agze are the 2 popular choices for swapping. Also there is always the 3sgte to swap in, but you would need a new tranny, axles, mounts, shifter cables, ect.. and the cost of swapping can get be $2500-$4000 easy.

like batman said the most cost-effective solution is teh headers, cai, and exhaust...and i dont think i would try puttin a turbo on a 7afe unless the miles were low to start with...but it wouldnt go good on mine...lol
