Im stuck and I dont know what to do next. I have a 95 St celica with 206k miles and I want to start modding my engine. I want to get a new replacement engine and then turbo it in the future but I dont know where to start. I have about 1600k to spend. Its not alot but do you think that will be enough to get myself a new 7afe engine or should I do something else?

You would have to swap it yourself, because labor for that would be about the same as you have now, if not more. With the money left over you could do little things within the engine, while it is out, or buy some turbo conponents, but you wouldn't be able to build a kit and an get an engine with 1600. now with 4000...... -------------------- 1991 MR2 - T-tops - Crimson Red - Gen3 3SGTE - Lots of money

QUOTE lets say you had about 5,000. ya think you could pull off a 3SGTE swap into an ST start to finish? Maybe. Depending on the price, who does the install, modifications, suprise problems, and all the bigs that would need to be worked out. I would think it could be dine with a 2nd Gen 3S, but probably not a 3rd Gen 3S.. That is if you pay someone to do the swap... IMO- ST's should swap other A series engines, like an AE101 4AGZE. That is what I want. -------------------- 1991 MR2 - T-tops - Crimson Red - Gen3 3SGTE - Lots of money

Basically im trying to have a turbo my 7afe but I can't. My Engine has to many miles on it. I was trying to see what would be a better idea. Should I try to swap in a newer 7afe with alot lower miles and than turbo it or should get the engine rebuilt and than turbo it?

Hmm, I think it would be wise to swap in a 4agze which would suit your liking of having a bit of boost, but you need a bit more than $1600. You can either swap in another usdm 7afe with low miles or rebuild your old engine so it stays within your budget. GOOD LUCK This post has been edited by netrata: Jul 29, 2006 - 7:41 PM -------------------- |

i noticed you said another 7a...so my guess is you're happy with that. well.....that out rules a 5s or 3s swap....how about dropping the 4age or 4agze?

I can do the wiring for you which makes it a bolt in, plug and play swap, and the engines can be had pretty cheap. -Doc -------------------- -Dr Tweak, 6GC's resident engine swap wiring expert extraordinaire Click here to see my swaps drtweak@phoenixtuning.com |

Dr. Tweak is right about that. The 20v 4age is a great engine for the money IMO And I would definitely recommend Dr. Tweak to do the harness. Just try borrowing or getting a loan to make the swap possible. I think it's worth the $.

I think it's worth the $. HOw much do you think doing all of this would cost? You can probably source a complete 20v 4age silvertop with everything (AFM and "uncut" harness is a big must for the swap to make things cheaper) for maybe around $800-$1300 online. But I think someone on this forum was selling his complete 20v silvertop swap, I forgot who it was though. And Dr. Tweak will charge like $350-$400 to make the wiring conversion. If you can do the mechanics yourself it will save you alot of money. Only downside to the swap, though, is that you might have to sacrifice your p/s and a/c unless your willing to spend a bit more to redo your hoses and stuff. Well, all I can say is good luck and I hope that doing the swap will fit in your budget This post has been edited by netrata: Jul 30, 2006 - 7:37 PM -------------------- |
