How fast are stock 97 st's with 5 speeds, if you're a pretty good shifter. I've got 97 manual st all stock and I dont really know if I'd get my ass kicked by everybody in a race or not, I'm a pretty good shifter, but I'm not sure how it compares to other cars (what it could beat).

even if you shift fast our cars are pretty slow. fast for 115 hp maybe, but slow nonetheless. forget about all the "performance" cars out there, but you should be able to kill most econo-boxes.

out of curiousity.... how many revs do you drop shifting from gear to gear?

I usually shift at about 3100 rpm, but I'm gonna go a little higher if I start racing more

When I'm gunning it, wink.gif I shift high as well, around 5000/6000. biggrin.gif
This is in order to keep the revs up around 3500 rpm.
(Don't know about anyone else but I notice a slight powerband around 3500).
