ok so yea i feel pretty much like an idiot because when i bought my car i was told it was a GT. as i did more research i looked into the engine and i even looked on the hood and it said it was a 2.2L 5sfe. well that hood must have been replaced because my car is for sure an ST. i have decided to go to a 3sgte engine but am not sure what one i should swap in. i want alot of power. should i go with the clip out of the Caldina, Mr2, or Celica all-trac. the caldina would be the most power but is it all the same to put in or are some more feasible than the others to put in.but like i said i wouldnt want any of the 3sgte engines to be under 225 horses stock. but if you could all help me out that'd be great thanks.

since you have an ST you are going to need GT motor mounts, gt shift cables, gt powersteering and gt ac lines (provided you want to keep that stuff) PLUS the clip.

id suggest alltrac clip, mr2 requires you to move the alternator and maybe something else im not sure, and caldina will jsut be hard to find and expensive and harder to swap.

^^ Lol clip comes with that.... whats the point of the clip if it didnt come with motor mounts and trans mounts... what do you think is holding up the motor in the clip...

so anywho...

depends on what you want to do like what your goals are power wise. the second gen has tons of aftermarket support here n america. If your looking for something to drop in and modify in the future for the price of a clip they go for around 2k now. and thats a full alltrac/gt4 there also 225hp.

If your looking for something to go ahead drop in and never touch again and make good reliable power a st205 clip/gt4 clip is for you. Its 255hp with a w2a intercooler. its a great engine its a little more expensive than a 2nd gen clip. But its much worth it if you have the money. It already comes with a better intercooler better turbo and It has a multy steal headgasket with 550cc injectors and one awesome turbo. Its a great motor for just small bolt ons.

Now to the transmission part. You will ethier need a celica gt trans. or a E153 trans out of a Mr2/v6 solara / v6 camry. Its easier to just get the solara or camry trans being that they are already setup for fwd. get that trans you have the mounts and the crossmember to work from the st205 clip and go to town ! heh.... and you will have yourself a pretty cool car biggrin.gif.

what clip are you talking about? Clip is a clip they all come with the mounts....... 2nd gen or 3rd gen S block mounts are S block also... E153 mounts are E153 mounts.... both will work on any e153 out of a solara/camry/mr2 ... and that one motor mount will work also.

Agree with this 100%

And with BPU you wont loose anything of the reliability and get about 20-30 hp gain.

Plus its about 90% direct plug and play dont have to have major headaches about rewiring.

do not buy the mr2 clip... get a alltrac/st185/90-93 gt4 clip... all the same terminology.

200 dollars for a motor mount are you nuts?

I am in the middle of a swap for my cheap friend, and the 5th gen mounts will not work unless u do a bit of sheet metal fabrication. It is a huge headache and not worth the time to try and get those mounts to work. Just buy the GT mounts.
